Driver Helper

**Title**: Driver Helper
**Department**: Delivery
**Location: Stockton, CA**
**Purpose of the position**: To assist the delivery driver with their daily duties and tasks, including but not limited to delivery of the product, rotation, and building displays.
- **This position is structured to be a part-time, temporary position of up to twelve (12) months. **_
The incoming employee is required to learn the Donaghy culture, customer service expectations, driving systems, and delivery procedures within the time frame listed below:
- **0-3 months after hire: obtain Class A driving permit**:
- **3-6 months after hire: obtain Class A driving license**:
- **6-12 months after hire: acquire a permanent delivery route**
**Essential Functions**: (must be able to perform these functions, with or without reasonable accommodation).
- Assists the truck driver in monitoring and servicing trucks for proper operation, informing the shop personnel or transportation manager of necessary repairs or safety hazards.
- Unloads and transports product from the delivery vehicle into the customer’s loading area or sales floor, as directed by store personnel.
- Renders polite, responsive and courteous service to customers.
- Regular attendance is required to be able to deliver exceptional customer service Utilizes hand trucks and pallet jacks to move product safely.
- Stocking shelves and down stacking of product.
- Rotation of product.
- Building displays and handling of POS (Point of Sale) material.
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule on short notice, including weekends, holidays, and frequently above 40 hours per week.
- Must be able to lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 lbs. regularly and ability to lift 150 lbs., with assistance, periodically.
- Ability to engage in frequent bending, stooping, stretching, and stepping up and down
- Ability to sit for prolonged periods, while in a moving vehicle.
- Regularly requires the use of hands to grasp, handle, touch and grip.
- Must maintain a neat, clean, professional appearance at all times.
- Must maintain a current class C driver license and be insurable according to company standards.
- Must be able to drive a car.
- Other duties as assigned.
**Skills, knowledge, and abilities**: (these are required to enable the job holder to perform the essential functions of the job).
- Must be able to interact cordially and productively with a variety of people.
- Must be able to market Donaghy Sales and explain the mission to the general public.
- Must be able to read, write, and communicate clearly in a professional manner.
- Must establish and maintain a productive working relationship with supervisors, employees, and co-workers.
- Must be able to read and understand street maps.
- Must maintain a neat, clean, professional appearance at all times.
- Ability to recognize the importance of safety in the workplace, follow safety rules, practice safe work habits, utilize appropriate safety equipment, and report unsafe conditions to the relevant manager.
- Maintain all company equipment and vehicles per company standards
**Experience and Education Requirements**:
High School diploma or GED preferred. Transportation experience or training a plus.
**Working Conditions**:
Extreme physical exertion, exposure to inclement weather, and exposure to fumes and noise from the truck. Primary functions require sufficient physical ability and mobility; walk, stand, and sit for prolonged periods; frequent stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, crawl, climb, reach, and twist; push, pull, lift, or carry moderate to substantial amounts of weight; operate assigned equipment and vehicles, and verbal communication to exchange information.

Pay: $18.00 per hour
Schedule:
- 8 hour shift
- Monday to Friday
- Overtime
**Experience**:
- Manual Pallet Jack: 1 year (required)
