**TITLE**: Lead Groundskeeper

**JOB DESCRIPTION**:
Lead Groundskeepers in the maintenance of landscaped areas surrounding the schools. Plant and maintain trees, shrubs, flowers, and lawns of school grounds.

**QUALIFICATIONS**:

- Education and/or experience equivalent to a High School Diploma or GED
- Two (2) years of experience in the care and maintenance of grounds
- State of Arizona Identity Verified (IVP) Fingerprint Clearance Card

**ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS**:

**DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Lead activities of Groundskeepers.
- Train and assist in providing orientation to new employees.
- Coordinate and assign work to Groundskeepers in the maintenance of shrubs, trees, lawns, planting areas, and sprinkler systems.
- Inspect work of personnel and recommend corrective measures to meet established standards.
- Mow lawns, remove debris from stairs and walks, rakes leaves, and edge sidewalk.
- Prune trees and shrubs; plant shrubs, trees and flowers, and pull weeds.
- Check sprinklers and perform irrigation activities.
- Water trees, shrubs and lawns.
- May operate equipment such as mowers, trucks, forklifts, skiploaders, and trenchers.
- Operate pick-up trucks, edgers, weed whackers, chain saws, brush trimmers, hand mowers, and hand tools.
- Assist in the maintenance of other areas by painting and doing custodial work.
- Assist with moving tables, chairs and other furniture.
- Perform maintenance and repair on equipment and tools as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

**KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND OTHER CHARACTERISTICS**:

- Knowledge of equipment, tools, and procedures of grounds care
- Knowledge of the operation, use and routine maintenance of grounds power equipment
- Skill in operating grounds maintenance equipment
- Skill in both verbal and written communication
- Ability to obtain current Arizona driver's license

**WORKING CONDITIONS**:
Hazardous chemicals and dangerous machinery

Exposure to extreme weather conditions

**PHYSICAL EFFORT**:
Lifts, moves, or carries objects weighing up to 80 pounds
