- NoThe purpose of the School Certifying Official is to manage a caseload of veterans using veterans benefits. The part-time school-certifying official will work in the Office of the Military and Veterans Services, reporting to the Director.
**Duties and Tasks**:

- Responsible for performing duties of school certifying official (reporting enrollment to VA)
- Complying with Department of Veteran Affairs program requirements, federal and state regulations, and college policies as it relates to program compliance and processing enrollment certification.
- Responsible for advising veteran students in their declared major and answering benefits questions as it relates to using veteran benefits, i.e. Post 911 benefits, with other eligible veteran education benefits
- Respond to inquiries from veteran students and eligible dependents of Veterans.
- Perform records auditing functions daily for yearly compliance surveys.
- Work collaboratively with the Director of Military and Veterans Services.

**Special Assignments**

May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.

- Ability to interpret and explain academic, administrative, and veteran policies.
- Ability to provide veteran students with accurate information as it relates to GI Bill benefits and other veteran-eligible education benefits.
- Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing with strong customer service skills.
- Flexibility and motivation to learn new systems.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a diverse student population.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines

**Minimum Qualifications**:

- Experience with veterans programs and procedures in a higher education setting.
- Experience in customer service.
- Experience in certifying military benefits/reporting changes in enrollment to the Department of Veterans Affairs using VA Once or Enrollment Manager.
