**Community Service Aide - Hotline Support - County of Bergen**

**Department of Human Services**

**Division Alternatives to Domestic Violence**

Under supervision of the Crisis Supervisor, the hotline specialist will respond to hotline calls, offering crisis intervention, information, and referrals to survivors of domestic violence; does other related duties as required.

**Job Responsibilities: (may include but not limited to)**
- Provide support/back-up to 24/7 hotline.
- Answer hotline calls, schedule needed appointments, and document interventions.
- Ability to identify the client’s needs and to refer individuals to supportive services.
- Maintain accurate records of interactions with callers.
- Collaborate with other agency staff to ensure seamless services.

**Schedule**:

- Per Diem - up to 29 hours per week.
- Availability for per diem shifts including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

**Education/Qualifications Requirements**:

- Completion of at least 60 credits from an accredited college or university; or equivalent work experience.
- Experience working with survivors of domestic violence or sexual assault (preferred).
- Strong communication skills and ability to remain calm under pressure.
- Empathy, compassion, and commitment to supporting survivors.

**Other Requirements**:

- Experience and knowledge working with individuals with disabilities (preferred).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word and Excel programs.
- Exemplary time management and organizational skills.
- Culturally Competent.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal).
- Ability to work well in a cooperative, team-oriented environment.
- Bilingual language skills are a plus.
