EXECUTIVE SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES
The Head of Climate, Energy and Infrastructure will be integral in building the commercial business related to climate, energy and infrastructure sectors. This position will be leading the strategy, cultivation, nurturing, and growth of various commercial verticals across the relevant sectors, including lending, investing and platform as a service. This is accomplished through developing the market strategy, monitoring, and influencing capital flow, and working closely with various teams and divisions, including existing product teams, to support the development and implementation of strategies related to climate, energy and infrastructure, including incorporating green-lending solutions into existing products and solutions.
ABOUT LENDISTRY
Lendistry is the country’s largest minority-led and technology-enabled small business and commercial real estate lender with Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI) and Community Development Entity (CDE) certification. We are a national employer whose mission is to provide economic opportunities and progressive growth for small business owners and their underserved communities as a source of financing and financial education.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop the strategy for green infrastructure, energy and project lending (ie Green Loans) solutions at Lendistry. This includes, but is not limited to:
- Strategy for commercial/business customers that aligns with rebates, decentralized energy programs, greenbank lending and other opportunities.
- Strategy for commercial real estate and future residential mortgage that aligns with rebates, tax credits, greenbank lending and other opportunities.
- Strategy for working as an aggregator, grant issuance, or other strategic services that fills market gaps.
- Identify project and business categories that align with Lendistry’s loan levels and are supported by federal, state and other private programs. This could include Green Mortgages, Green Loans, Rebate Programs, and Sustainably-linked Supply Chain Finance. Update financial products to align with broader changes to Lendistry’s lending capacity, the establishment of the investment branch, or other new capabilities.
- Identify State, Federal and other funding sources to support lending activity. Work at the National level but with emphasis on Lendistry’s eight States of focus. Be opportunistic as needed. Develop a state acquisition strategy to complement federal resource allocation to the states, including but not limited to US Department of Energy, US Department of Agriculture and US Environmental Protection Agency. Identify service gaps in implementation of funds where private transactions can unlock larger investment programs.
- Identify areas of need that can be a basis of business for a downstream consultancy business. This may include mapping the pathways and showing how to braid new types of public and private funds.
- Identify strategy for how Lendistry can help support Environmental Social Governance (ESG) goals of large corporations via servicing of “green loans”. This may include working with established sustainable lenders or corporations seeking returns on their capital to provide loans in LMI communities.
- Pending regulatory changes to the Community Reinvestment Act (CRA) with potential inclusion of disaster preparedness and climate resiliency as an eligible category, identify strategy for how Lendistry can support the new category of CRA lending for very large banks.
- Collaborate with leaders across various divisions within Lendistry to drive Lendistry’s clean energy and infrastructure platform, including working with Lendistry’s Credit team to support the development of credit policies and underwriting guidelines, Sales and BD to support sales efforts for green loans and Servicing for the proper reporting to key stakeholders.
- Work with Marketing and Product team to stand up the grant, loan or rebate programs that support the strategy.
- Work with Compliance team to establish screening, reporting metrics and practices that support green-oriented lending results.
- Work with the Head of Capital Partnerships on the strategy for public/private solutions to support customer access to green financial products as part of their business solution.
- Work with The Center to identify training and supportive solutions for customers accessing green infrastructure, energy and project loan products as part of their business plan.
- Manage the ongoing partner relationships to achieve established partnership goals.
- Travel both locally and throughout the country as needed to meet with partners and attend conferences and events. This may involve overnight and multiple days of travel.
- Attend early morning and evening events and conferences to support our partnerships.
