Restoration Coordinator

**Position Summary**

Under the supervision of the Restoration Manager, the Project Coordinator will be responsible for direct supervision of the CCLB Restoration Department and for the planning, coordination, and business development of conservation projects that include but are not limited to environmental education, habitat restoration and management, wildfire fuels reduction, wildlife surveying, environmental compliance, natural resource management, urban forestry, and community beautification & greening, along with developing and monitoring project budgets, reports, and grant writing and management.

**Essential Responsibilities**:

- Oversee and coordinate restoration projects and their crews
- Oversee and manage the restoration crew supervisors
- Write and manage restoration grants and budgets
- Inventory and oversee restoration project materials, supplies, and equipment

**Coordination**:

- Grant writing and reporting of restoration projects
- Curriculum development and instruction of restoration training opportunities (e.g., wildland fire and chainsaw training, hand and power tool training, invasive and native plant identification training, nesting bird survey training, and trail maintenance training).
- Coordinate field supervisors and their crews for daily operations as well as overnight spike/hitch projects
- Coordinate restoration projects and programs with project partners and sponsors.
- Conduct weekly site visits to project work sites to ensure crews are working
- Communicate and coordinate with project sponsors, including state and federal government entities such as the USFS, CA State Parks, and other agencies and non-profit organizations such as the Catalina Island Conservancy and
- Provide regular supervision, training, and mentoring of Crew Supervisors.
- Prepare a weekly schedule for all restoration crews and projects and maintain Conservation Program Project Schedule(s).
- Conduct bi-weekly staff meetings on various organizational topics in coordination with the Restoration Manager and Restoration crew supervisors
- Prepare bi-weekly meeting agenda for restoration department meetings to provide updates to field staff and ensure proper safety protocols are being followed through various situational scenarios.
- Work with The Education Corps - Gateway Cities School to develop strategic plans for corpsmembers and their transitional development between Conservation Corps of Long Beach and The Education Corps - Gateway Cities School
- Work closely with the Lead Education Supervisor to write and develop training curriculum and instruct vocational education classes on various topics, including recycling/sustainability, urban forestry, and natural resource and vegetation management.
- Plan and conduct interviews and participate in the orientation of the new corpsmember applicants.
- Assist the Restoration Manager with the coordination and supervision of the corpsmember development and training programs.
- Manage equipment, project materials, safety equipment, and uniforms and oversee restoration budgets to ensure expenses are within budget.
- Prepare reports and present them to project sponsors, CCLB Board meetings, and City Council meetings.
- Record daily project metrics in the field and upload data and photos to the CCLB one drive.

**Reporting and record-keeping**
- Log and file daily metrics of all restoration projects on the shared metrics tracker sheet and complete monthly metrics reports to monitor project progress.
- Maintain equipment, repair or replace tools, track project needs, and report equipment and vehicle needs to the Operations Coordinator.
- Ensure field supervisors upload project photos weekly to the shared project photos folder.
- Ensure field supervisors scan daily timesheets at the end of each work day.
- Monitor restoration project budgets and spending and track expenses and hours.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and final reports of all project activities.
- Represent the CCLB via professional conferences and outside training sessions.
- Manage and reconcile all budget expenses and revenues from all projects monthly to ensure budget milestones are met.
- Complete monthly mileage logs for all restoration projects and vehicles.
- Complete quarterly staff evaluations for field supervisors who report to the restoration coordinator

**Supervision**:

- Directly responsible for the supervision of Restoration field supervisors and their corpsmembers.

**Reporting Procedures**:

- Counsel, motivate and discipline individual corpsmembers as appropriate.
- Participate in staff and corpsmember trainings and meetings.

**Required Education and Experience**:

- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Strong technical report writing skills
- Wildlife and plant community identification skills for species common to California
- A background and experience in wildlife or conservation biology, habitat restoration, natural resource and land management, urban forestry, wildfire fue
