**Retail Operations**

We are currently seeking dependable, detail oriented, hardworking, and organized staff to join our team at Salem Art Gallery as a Retail Sales associate. This hire will work in our gift shop selling items via a Shopify POS (experience is the software is a plus), label and prepare products to be sold, and assist with occasional events.

The position will begin with a 2 week probationary period paid at $16/hr to confirm compatibility. Paid training included in this period.

This is a great opportunity for someone that is looking for experience in the gallery and retail operations in a popular area like Salem. We encourage staff to research exhibitions and have basic knowledge of the artwork currently on display.

**Daily responsibilities include**:

- Greeting visitors upon entry and providing admission to gallery.
- Checkout customers in gift shop and answer questions regarding works displayed or merchandise.
- Restock and maintain merchandise in Gift shop. Perform inventory quarterly.
- General cleaning, sanitization, and upkeep of Salem Art Gallery.
- Other duties as assigned by Gallery Manager.

**Schedule**:
Typical Shift (Tuesday -Sunday): 11:30am -5:30pm

Events/Special Occasions: 5pm-9:30pm

**This job is ideal for someone who is**:

- **Reliable**: In terms of showing up on time and maintaining a consistent schedule. Generally, the gallery is flexible, but we must be able to find coverage for shifts.
- **People-oriented**: Enjoys interacting with people and working with large groups. Is able to announce to groups of people about the rules and key aspects of the gallery.
- **Adaptable/flexible**: When the gallery is busy we like to have people ready and able to shift focus to customers, restocking, or upkeep.
- **Open-Minded**: We highly recommend that those interested in the position research the gallery to see if they would like to work here.

**COVID-19 Considerations**:
Required to be fully vaccinated upon hire. Mask welcome but not required.

Sanitizing, disinfecting, and cleaning procedures in place.

**Job Type**: Part-time

Pay: $16.00 - $18.00 per hour
