We are seeking compassionate and dedicated individuals to join our team as Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) at our Level 3 Adult Care Home. As a DSP, you will be responsible for providing direct care and support to residents with developmental disabilities, ensuring their safety, well-being, and quality of life. This role involves assisting residents with daily living activities, fostering independence, and promoting socialization and community integration.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- Provide direct care and support to residents with developmental disabilities according to their individualized care plans.
- Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs) including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, eating, and mobility.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by healthcare professionals, adhering to medication administration policies and procedures.
- Monitor and document residents' health status, behaviors, and progress, reporting any concerns or changes to the appropriate supervisor.
- Implement behavioral support plans and crisis intervention techniques as needed to manage challenging behaviors and promote a safe environment.
- Encourage and facilitate residents' participation in recreational and social activities, both within the facility and in the community.
- Foster positive relationships with residents, families, and interdisciplinary team members, promoting open communication and teamwork.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and homelike environment within the care home, ensuring safety and compliance with regulatory standards.
- Attend training sessions, staff meetings, and professional development opportunities to enhance knowledge and skills in supporting individuals with developmental disabilities.
- Uphold the rights, dignity, and privacy of residents, respecting their choices, preferences, and cultural backgrounds at all times.
**Qualifications**:
- High school diploma or equivalent (required)
- Prior experience working in a similar role or with individuals with developmental disabilities (preferred)
- Certification in CPR and First Aid (required)
- At least 18 years of age reliable
- Reliable vehicle with current registration and insurance
- DSP Certification (preferred)
- Ability to pass background checks and drug screening
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
- Compassion, patience, and a genuine desire to make a positive impact in the lives of others
**Physical Requirements**:
- Ability to lift and transfer residents using proper body mechanics and assistive devices
- Ability to stand, bend, stoop, and walk for extended periods
- Ability to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, adapting to the changing needs of residents
