**PROGRAM: HIV PREVENTION**

**CLASSIFICATIONS**:Full-Time, 35 HOURS/WEEK

The Health Educator will work under the supervision of the Women Health Coordinator to implement Evidence Based Intervention workshops i.e., Be Proud Be Responsible Healthy Love, SISTA and WILLOW Curricula at partner schools, organizations and community based centers. Conduct weekly educational health related workshops (individual or series of workshops) designed to educate youth on adolescent sexuality topics and HIV/HCV prevention. The Health Educator will be responsible for community outreach, one-on-one screening and assessment, and health education targeting at-risk population. The Health Educator will also provide life skills courses to community and faith-based organizations.

This position requires implementing Evidence Based Intervention/HIV prevention workshops i.e., Sister to Sister, Healthy Love, SISTA and WILLOW Curricula in the community, at partner schools, organizations, and community-based centers. Programming will be focused on addressing social determinants of health for women.

**Reports to**: Women Health Coordinator

**Responsibilities include but are not limited to**:

- Assist in outreach services in the community to identify high-risk individuals;
- Engage and refer clients for HIV testing and prevention services;
- Perform screening and intake of individuals needing HIV prevention and/or substance use services;
- Assist in maintaining client files, statistical data, and referral logs;
- Assist with data entry into GPRA and DCS client record systems;
- Provide appropriate internal and external referrals for follow-up care and other support services;
- Attend workshops/conferences and represent Diaspora in the service provider community at various meetings and functions;
- Contributes to the development and improvement of program services to meet or exceed all contracted and/or mandated objectives and goals of the program and Community Advisory Council;
- Complete and submit all required workshop evaluation summary reports, pre and posttests to Program Manager on a monthly basis;
- Provides input in planning and evaluating activities;
- Participate in ongoing professional development trainings as identified by supervisor;
- Other duties as assigned.

**Minimum Qualifications**:
Bachelor’s degree and 1-year experience required, or HS Diploma/GED and 4 years of experience, in health education, conducting evidence-based curriculum and experience working with LGBT youth and HIV prevention; experience in HIV testing, pre and post counseling preferred;
- Bilingual Spanish, French or Haitian-Creole speaking preferred;
- Capacity to conduct street and community outreach targeting at LGBTQ population;
- Experience working with diverse populations. LGBTQ Cultural competency is required;
- Knowledge and skills in working as a team;
- **Required** to work flexible hours; which includes after hours and weekends;
- **Required **to travel.

**Compensation**:
Compensation is competitive and commensurate with experience.
