**Position Summary**

The Event Assistant will assist in maintaining spaces where girls and volunteers learn and grow. They are on site during rentals of properties as needed to ensure safety and needs of the guests are met, and they ensure that spaces are clean and ready for use. This person will help deliver tours to prospective clients and assist with contract preparation as needed.

**Role and Responsibilities**
- Position is located at the Kalamazoo Regional Center and our camp in Plainwell, as needed.
- Serves as a customer service representative for Girl Scouting and assigned facilities, ensuring that guests receive the highest level of service and that their experience is exceptional.
- Cheerfully greets renters, ensuring customers are safe and have what they need.
- Executes some hands-on maintenance and repair work to assigned facilities, ensuring they are in good repair and free from hazards.
- Main task will include the following, but are not limited to:
- Maintaining sanitization of assigned property while vacant and before/after rentals
- Cleaning, vacuuming, mopping, sweeping, polishing, dusting, power-washing
- Trash removal
- Maintaining staff presence during rental events
- Other typical tasks performed could include, but not limited to, a combination of the following:
- Moving furniture, boxes, and equipment
- Cleaning and sanitizing various surfaces
- Maintaining clean bathroom facilities
- Restocking and organizing cleaning supplies
- Sweeping, mopping, and vacuuming
- Picking up litter on grounds
- Occasional use of ladder
- Other seasonal tasks as assigned
- Reviews the needs of assigned facilities and makes certain they are operated and maintained in a cost-effective and safe condition, and reports maintenance needs in a timely manner.
- Share responsibility for support, implementation, and promotion of all areas of the organization’s plan of work.
- Work within an assigned budget, communicated by the start of the operating year.
- Provide information and interpretation of GSHOM policies and programs to reinforce the role of Girl Scouting.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

**Knowledge/Skills/Abilities**
- Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
- Prior hospitality experience preferred.
- Must possess excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Must have the ability and initiative to work independently and also as a high-functioning member of a team.
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks, successfully manage multiple priorities simultaneously, work under pressure, meet deadlines and deal with change.
- Ability to follow through on projects.
- Ability to pay close attention to detail and maintain accuracy.
- Demonstrated ability to successfully handle conflict resolution at all levels with a variety of people.
- Ability to communicate the written and spoken word with tact, diplomacy, and/or authority when necessary.
- Computer literacy and technical knowledge of computer software programs such as Word, Publisher, PowerPoint, Excel, and the internet.
- Excellent analytical and organizational skills required.
- Knowledge of the Girl Scout program preferred.
- Must be willing to work a flexible schedule, work weekends and evenings, with up to 8 office hours during the week.
- Must have the ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds.

**Work Schedule**

This position works a flexible schedule which includes weekend and evening hours, with some daytime hours needed.

**Work Environment**

Operates in both a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and a point of sale system. This position may be called upon to assist in the setup and tearing down of a room in preparation for and cleaning up after rental events. May be required to occasionally lift up to 75 pounds and use a ladder.

**Supervisory Responsibility**

This position has no supervisory responsibility.
