**Requirements**:

- Must have 2 years of experience as a Sterile Processing Technician.
- Must have active CRCST or CBSPD Certificate.

**Duties/Responsbilities**:

- Primary responsibility is infection control.
- Cleans, sterilizes, packages and assembles instrument sets. Assist in care and handling of equipment. i.e., suction, fracture frames, pumps, venodyne, etc. (as delineated for Equipment Control Coordinator).
- Responsible for cleaning reusable items including surgical pieces and processing through steam sterilizers, gas sterilizers, washer sterilizers, and ultrasonic if necessary.
- Responsible for waste disposal and decontamination of contaminated items. Inspects equipment and instruments through all procedural steps for condition and operation. Collects soiled instruments, kits, equipment, etc. for processing.
- Demonstrates a working knowledge in the following areas in a surgical preparation environment: vascular, ophthalmic, laparoscopic, orthopedic, O.B./Gynecology, General, Urology, Dental, E.N.T., neuro and plastic.
- Participates in ongoing education programs. Demonstrates knowledge the function and operation of equipment in a Central Sterile environment.
