The Project Estimator will be a team player working with our Sales Representatives and other peers to analyze, cost and price varies products. When projects do not conform to our product specifications, they will need to be creative in proposing alternative production options for the project. This position requires the ability to work independently as well as consult with a variety of production managers and vendors.

**Key responsibilities include**:

- Analyzes “Request for Estimate” by consulting and verifying with estimating and production managers that all requests conform to The Lane Press standard product specifications. Alternatively, the Estimator may need to “reverse engineer” a product based on limited job specifications such as a sample book, vague descriptions from sales, or a competitive quote feedback form.
- Able to independently determine the most efficient method to produce a job as well as identify production alternatives. Needs to be able to independently determine project costs and appropriately set competitive pricing targets that will maximize the chances of a successful estimate.Obtain pricing from outside vendors when applicable and set appropriate mark-up levels on work sourced with outside vendors.
- Based on supplied specifications and/or alternative information as described above, and current schedule of prices, prepare cost estimates and set pricing to meet profit targets, determines materials to purchase for each estimate, taking into consideration current inventory and, when materials are non-inventory, checking with Purchasing on current pricing and availability. Work closely with the Sales Reps and other team members discussing alternative printing/pricing options so that the information can be effectively communicated back to the customer.
- Responsible for gathering all internal documentation relating to jobs and various other billing requests then interpreting the information and comparing it to actual work performed. This may include data entry of prepaid freight charges, sheetfed and backfill invoicing, filing job chargeable information as it is released by production, and preparing invoices for advanced postage and other supplemental charges.

A college degree or equivalent proficiency combined with job-related experience is required.
