We are seeking a skilled and experienced Construction Estimator for large scale concrete projects and heavy civil work. You will grow our current market and assist in our expansion into new markets and regions. Projects will range from industrial, commercial, municipal, structural repair, bridgework, and more.

YOUR DAY-TO-DAY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and maintain client relationships for bidding purposes
  • Research & qualify potential bidding opportunities, attend pre-bid meetings
  • Collaborate with designers, engineers, project managers, clients, contractors, and team members for a comprehensive knowledge of project requirements
  • Coordinate with suppliers/contactors to obtain pricing and availability information
  • Identify scope items completely and correctly using a risk narrative (estimating labor, material, and time requirements) and compute the overall cost of project
  • Build complete and detailed quantity take off and estimates for team review, deliver as needed
  • Provide estimating reports for scope changes
  • Project 6-12 months bidding market to assist in business forecasting
  • Work effectively in support of project management activities
  • Analyze completed projects to compare estimated costs to actual costs and identify areas for improvement.
  • Prepare regular reports on estimating activities and outcomes for management review.

THE EXPERIENCE YOU BRING TO THE TEAM

Practical and applied knowledge of budgeting, design, estimating in a construction setting; solid experience in field construction and/or specialized concrete construction; a strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and costs.

MINIMUM

  • 3 years construction field experience
  • 5 years of estimating
  • or a combination of 5 years field construction and estimating experience

PREFERRED

  • Bachelor's degree in a construction related field or equivalent combinations of technical training & experience.
  • Proficiency with at least one industry standard estimating software
  • Experience in heavy civil construction, large scale project estimating

SKILLS

  • Practical knowledge, proficient computer skills working with estimating/job costing software, MS Office, and Teams.
  • Strong knowledge of all construction trades, sequencing, and coordination
  • Familiarity with design/build and value engineering
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and construction documents

The working conditions of this position require:

  • working both inside and outside
  • traversing a construction site utilizing stairs, ladders, etc.
  • utilizing personal protective equipment
  • working extended hours and weekends when required
