**Position Overview**:
**Key Responsibilities**:

- Solicit suppliers for price and availability information for materials.
- Identify Long Lead Time Materials (LLTM) and manage them accordingly.
- Generate Pre-Proposal Inquiries (PPI), Requests for Clarification (RFC), and Inspection/Deficiency Reports (IDR).
- Review and take appropriate action on all answered correspondence.
- Interface with trades to ensure material estimates and requisitions contain the correct size, type, and quantity of materials.
- Field questions, identify issues, and resolve problems to ensure a quality product.
- Ensure all estimates are complete, accurate, and submitted on schedule.
- Monitor schedules to ensure required need dates are communicated to vendors.
- Interface with the Purchasing Department regarding cost and supplier information, and provide Request for Quote (RFQ) information to Buyers.
- Maintain frequent contact with Labor Estimators, Buyers, Ship Superintendents, Craft Supervisors, Craft Personnel, and outside material suppliers.
- Perform similar, incidental, and other duties as assigned.
- Work independently with mínimal immediate supervision.

**Skills Required**:

- Ability to interpret drawings, technical manuals, and work specifications to develop material estimates for repairs on US Navy and Commercial ships.
- Develop material estimates for new/growth work resulting from inspection reports, deficiency reports, and contract changes.
- Deliver efficient, effective, and flexible solutions to meet production requirements.
- Identify and select vendors to procure requisitioned commodities, meeting criteria such as price, quantity, quality, and delivery dates.
- Develop and maintain good relationships with suppliers to ensure demand for materials is met and deliveries are made on time.
- Develop and implement processes and work with suppliers on continuous improvement initiatives.
- Support the assessment and sourcing of suppliers in conjunction with the purchasing team.
- Support supplier meetings and negotiations to ensure demand for materials is met.
- Resolve supplier concerns and evaluate supplier performance in conjunction with the purchasing team.

**Experience Required**:

- Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience.

**Education Required**:

- High school diploma or equivalent education.

**Job Type**: Contract

Pay: $35.00 - $40.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week

Schedule:

- Monday to Friday

**Experience**:

- Material Planning: 1 year (required)
- US Navy and Commercial ships: 1 year (required)

Ability to Commute:

- San Diego, CA 92113 (preferred)

Ability to Relocate:

- San Diego, CA 92113: Relocate before starting work (preferred)
