**Job Purpose, Hours, and Pay Schedule**

The position reports to the Coordinating Minister, and works as part of the program staff team.

The Director of Communications is responsible for capturing the vision of the UCG staff and congregation for the creation and dissemination of all informational and invitational communications both within the church and in the wider community, including but not limited to both online and print materials. Additionally, this person will facilitate the creation and implementation of a communications and outreach strategy that reflects the vision and mission of the United Church of Gainesville, as well as recommending changes to policies and procedures to better serve communication needs.

The Director of Communications will further institute best practices for marketing, accessibility, and inclusion, and maintain and update the UCG style guide. This position serves as the conduit and channel for all church communications and publications, and coordinates and curates content from a range of sources both staff and volunteer.

This is a full time (32-40 hours), exempt, benefits-eligible position, paid bi-weekly (26/27 pay periods annually). Salary range is $41,000-52,000.

**Duties and Responsibilities**

Oversee the production, editing and proofreading of church publications, including but not limited to:

- Bulletins, paper and digital
- Newsletter
- Advent and Lenten Devotional
- Church bulletin boards
- Quarterly mailers
- Annual Report
- Website (including oversight and regular updating)
- Social Media (including developing and implementing of a regular social media presence, strategy, and updates)
- Outside advertising (including NPR ad scripts, press releases, posters)

Attend weekly staff meetings and otherwise liaise with ministers and other program staff to generate content.

Supervises audio-visual/worship techs and develops production standards and monitors for media quality. Coordinates with staff and volunteer photographers.

Seek out and schedule opportunities to gather information from church ministries and leaders to suggest needed media, advertising or communications, including special music, youth, childrens, and justice programs.

Work with the ministers and the Board of Membership to facilitate the welcome of visitors and the process of integrating new members.

Manages the Church Calendar alongside the Director of Church Operations to ensure consistent communication of event details across platforms and audiences.

**Qualifications**:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college with major coursework in communications, English, or related field. Experience working with a publication or non-profit in a communications role. Supervisory experience preferred.

All UCG employees are required to pass a criminal background check. Certifications in Adobe/Publisher/Photoshop/Wordpress or similar editing and design software is highly desirable.

**Job Types**: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $41,000.00 - $52,000.00 per year

Expected hours: 32 - 40 per week
