The Volunteer Engagement Coordinator is the first point of contact for Houston Food Bank’s new and returning volunteer groups. This position is passionate about helping others and strives to be an ambassador for the Houston Food Bank’s mission - Food for better lives.

The Volunteer Engagement Coordinator must value and contribute to the future development of the organization by supporting volunteers along the Volunteer Journey. This position will be knowledgeable about the various volunteer programs and onsite opportunities available. This includes overseeing the volunteer management system with group registration, group scheduling, confirming group numbers along other logístical planning needs. This position will also coordinate and aim to accommodate any special requests including group tours, catering services, project area coordination, corporate groups, media logistics, and other special events.

**ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS**:

- Reliable, consistent, attendance is a requirement. This position requires punctuality and dependable attendance to meet the needs of the business, including attending and taking part in meetings and presentations.
- Maintains the volunteer management system with necessary group registration information.
- Greet volunteer groups upon arrival, assist with the check-in process and provide support to any questions or issues that arise during their volunteer experience.
- Attends meetings to provide updates about scheduled volunteer groups with a focus on logistics that may impact the production team (group size, project area, and conference room requests, HFB tours, and other special requests)
- Attends recruitment fairs at various offsite locations to promote and recruit potential volunteers (some outdoor event support as needed).
- Collaborates with VS leadership and team members on identifying new opportunities to improve the volunteer experience.
- Supports scheduled corporate volunteer events, media coverage, special onsite events, HFB east branch tours, and community outreach for prospective volunteers.
- Implements initiatives to improve the volunteer experience including a volunteer recognition program.

**SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES**:
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

**QUALIFICATIONS**:
**Education/Experience**:

- High School Diploma from an accredited school or general education development (GED) certificate, bachelor’s degree preferred
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in an administrative support role

**Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations**:

- Must have reliable transportation, a valid driver's license, and insurance

- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook; Knowledge of CRM systems
