**Medical Assistant I**

**Location**:4941 S. Furfee Ave., Pico Rivera, CA 90660

**Hours**:Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 5:00 pm PST

The **Medical Assistant I **is responsible for assisting clinicians in the examination and treatment of patients under the direction of the physician.

**How you will make an impact**:

- Provides front and/or back office support.
- Greets patients in a friendly, service oriented manner in compliance with Carelon Health Care Center (CCC) or Medical Group Practice protocols and workflows.
- Oversees patient check in by ensuring medical records/charts have been pulled, patient data is current, appropriate paperwork is in order, and charts are reviewed/prepared.
- Interviews patient, measures vital signs and records reason for visit.
- Explains procedures, performs treatments, and administers prescribed medication.
- Oversees patient check out by scheduling follow up appointments, collecting co-payment if applicable, ensuring paperwork is complete.
- Schedules and confirms patient's appointments.
- Reconciles co-payments at the end of each day.

**Minimum Requirements**:

- Requires a H.S. diploma or equivalent; or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background.
- Requires an active, current and valid Medical Assistant certification.
- Bi-lingual (English/Spanish) may be required.**Preferred Skills, Capabilities and Experiences**:

- For Carelon Health business unit, satisfactory completion of a Tuberculosis test is a requirement for this position.
- For Simply Health business unit, phlebotomy background strongly preferred.

**Locations**: California
