A Program Chair has oversight of faculty and faculty leadership within a designated content or geographic area for the respective school/college. Assists with the development, implementation, and maintenance of strategies around the faculty lifecycle and ensuring the quality and integrity of the instruction of the school/colleges programs and other educational offerings. Collaborates with local campus stakeholders to build productive relationships with outside organizations.
**This position is located at our Phoenix Campus**
- Represent and serve as an advocate for the mission of the school/college and the University to internal and external stakeholders, including the local campuses, shared services, operations, and others.
- Engage in tasks associated with the direct supervision of staff including, but not limited to: coaching, performance evaluations, disciplinary action, recognition, and development.
- Collaborate with faculty recruiting teams to identify and recruit qualified faculty while maintaining a sustainable curricular model. Assess program faculty composition considering diversity, visibility, and program goals and teaching effectiveness.
- Develop and maintain the academic quality and integrity of the college programs and discipline via frequent collaboration and communication with deans. Use data, including student learning outcome, program performance survey data, to ensure program quality.
- Advise, coach and mentor faculty on how to deliver course content/PD more effectively, with an emphasis on improving student/educator engagement, performance, and success.
- Evaluate and provide detailed feedback on faculty performance and development through the regular completion of Classroom Performance Reviews (CPR) and/or by overseeing the completion of CPRs by others.
- Investigate and address performance deficiencies and/or violations of the Faculty Handbook with appropriate remediation and coaching. Implement, communicate, and ensure adherence to academic policies, standards and practices.
- Assist with the development of strategies in the faculty lifecycle to improve faculty engagement and support. Support, execute, and implement the college’s strategies for faculty.
- Identify and leverage institutional best practices among faculty and identify the best method of dissemination and distribution of teaching methods that support student success and enhance program quality. Evaluate faculty metrics and other data to identify opportunities for professional development.
- Act as a content area expert, providing the college with support and feedback in the development, review, and revision of curriculum. provide content area expertise to other stakeholders such as business to business, technology, operations, accreditation, assessment, etc., as needed. Regularly assess student learning in partnership with faculty and use the results to inform strategic decisions.
- Monitor and evaluate external agencies to determine their effectiveness. Provide recommendations for continued use of agencies.
- Partner with campus leadership and other stakeholders to identify market opportunities to build relationships and partnerships that will add credibility to the degree program, build the perceived reputation and value of our offerings, and support cohorts of programs/PD/other educational offerings.
