The US has a proud history of providing refuge to those fleeing war and persecution and is the largest resettlement country in the world. The Connecticut Institute for Refugees and Immigrants (CIRI) has received and resettled refugees for over fifty years. We are affiliated with the US Committee for Refugees and Immigrants (USCRI), one of nine agencies that administer the refugee resettlement program nationally.

**Compensation: $44,000 + Benefits (that currently include)**:
**Medical (Anthem): 3 copay/deductible options; base plan is $35/paycheck**

**Vision (Mutual of Omaha): $60 per year; $130 hardware allowance**

**Dental (Mutual of Omaha): $500 per year; $1,750 annual benefit**

**Life: 1 x Salary to $100K; paid by CIRI**

**Voluntary Life: Available to employees and family**

**Disability: 60% of earnings; paid by CIRI**

**Identity Theft: Optional coverage; paid by employees**

***:Provide support, social, and acculturation services to Afghan Humanitarian Parolees, SIVs, Refugees, and other eligible immigrant populations. Identify needs and plan action steps to ensure successful resettlement. The position is based in New Haven, but will require regular travel to Bridgeport.

**ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS**
- Learn and comply with applicable requirements of state, local, and federal programs.
- Become proficient in using multiple database platforms.
- Coordinate pre-arrival arrangements for clients as well as pickup upon arrival in Bridgeport
- Provide core services including, but not limited to self-sufficiency assessment and goal setting, cultural orientation, public benefits assistance, ESL enrollment, and assistance with medical appointments.
- Comply with detailed documentation requirements and complete in a timely manner case notes, paperwork, and reports for federal auditing purposes.
- Make appropriate and necessary referrals for all core and any other services promoting community integration.
- Provide transportation to clients as needed to ensure access to services.
- Provide ongoing comprehensive support and advocacy.
- Attend weekly supervision and complete a yearly evaluation with the Site Supervisor.

**QUALIFICATIONS**
- Bachelor?s degree with a concentration in a relevant field (e.g. social work, teaching, anthropology, psychology, international studies, women?s studies, public health)
- At least 2 years? experience in a client-facing employment position, or 1 year experience working with vulnerable and/or underserved populations.
- Familiarity with Afghan culture.
- Willingness and ability to serve New Haven and Bridgeport Afghan community.
- Superior organizational, communication, and prioritization skills
- Exceptional interpersonal skills and proven ability to collaborate with other staff and service providers.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and experience working with client databases.
- Must have reliable car, valid U.S. driver?s license, and valid auto insurance.
- Ability to physically assist with apartment setup, moving furniture, and carrying household items.
- Flexibility to accommodate occasional after-hours services.
- **Verbal fluency in Pashto and/or Dari strongly preferred.**
