For more than 118 years, Backus Hospital has been the primary source of healthcare services for much of Eastern Connecticut. We are home to the only trauma center in New London and Windham counties, and are the only area hospital with LIFE STAR helicopter services. We deliver and coordinate a continuum of high-quality healthcare with the goal of improving the health of our communities.

**JOB SUMMARY**

The Clinical Materials Specialist supports cost effective needs of department by ensuring availability of appropriate procedure specific equipment and supplies. Interfaces with Supply Chain and the Clinical Team in facilitating cycle counts, inventory management, consumption, outdates, and forecasting. Collaborate with Service Line Specialists on the coordination of trials and onboarding of new technology. Work directly with sales representatives to obtain price quotes, facilitate routine orders, and gather information on contracts. Partner with Sterile Processing, Biomedical Engineering for repair and evaluation of hospital medical equipment.

**Qualifications**

**Minimum Requirements**

**Education**
- Associates Degree in a medical field or equivalent relevant experience

**Experience**
- Two to four years employment in a related medical field

**Licensure, Certification, Registration**
- Annual licensure and certification renewed within required timeline

**Preferred Requirements**

**Experience**
- Five years employment in perioperative services
- Three to five years employment in supply chain

**Knowledge, Skills and Ability Requirements**
- Ability to read and understand oral and written instructions, and effectively communicate information.
- Working knowledge and understanding of anatomy and physiology.
- Excellent interpersonal skills necessary to communicate with departments, peers, employees, physicians and managers.
- Ability to read and understand oral and written material and effectively communicate technical or complex information.
- Works efficiently and organizes time appropriately.
- Ability to prioritize daily work assignments. Must be organized, flexible and a team player.
- Demonstrates initiative in all job-related activities.
