**THE FAMILY | **This family of five has three creative, curious, and bright little boys. The two oldest boys attend highly gifted elementary and middle schools; their youngest is in pre-school.
The family loves academics, education, learning, and creativity. They seek a long-term career nanny/manny who can work approximately 30 hours a week, Monday through Friday. There will be occasional weeks when the family needs more help and some weeks when the nanny/manny is not needed to work their full 30 hours. Flexibility is required. Because of the boys’ brightness, the new hire is implicitly expected to be on the ball and highly intelligent so they can keep up, engage the boys, and help with homework.
The mother is a professor and writer who works from home, and the father works from home. They have separate offices downstairs that are not directly connected to the main part of the house. The father travels often for work, and during these times, the family needs more help from their nanny/manny.
**THE BOYS | **The Oldest: He is 12 years old and described as sweet, studious, and thoughtful. He is an old soul and really a fun kid who converses easily with adults. He reads lots of books (he loves to read) and writes short stories and poetry. The Californian State Spelling Bee champion, he represented Los Angeles at the recent Scripps National Spelling Bee. He loves to talk about current events and cook. He loves watching and playing soccer. He is also an avid piano player.
The Middle: A great adventurer He is 9 years old. He loves building forts and running around the garden. He loves hikes and exploring. He is also extremely artistically creative and designs lots of various sculptures and 3-D artwork. He has two Guinea pigs as pets (which he shares with his little brother). Kind and interesting, he is full of energy and is never boring. Like his older brother, he also enjoys playing soccer.
The Youngest: He just turned 5 years old. He is adorable and funny. He loves playing make-believe, talking about cars, and making up jokes. He likes math games that involve M&Ms (adding and subtracting), reading books, and building with Legos and Magna-Tiles. He is a delight to have around, and his laughter is contagious.
There are no dietary restrictions or known allergies.
These boys made a strong connection with their first nanny and an even stronger one with their current manny. They want someone who truly learns their individual personalities and genuinely loves being part of their growth and development.
**THE JOB DETAILS | **The main responsibilities for this role are the boys and their care. The parents play an active role in the day-to-day care of the boys’ lives, so working independently and alongside them in a partnership is required. As there are three boys, they need someone dependable to show up on time and according to the schedule.
The duties include caring for the boys, school pick-ups and drop-offs, and engaging in age-appropriate activities—outdoor play, science projects, reading, piano, physical activity, imaginative play, exploration, painting, arts and crafts, and building.
In addition to engaging with the boys, the new hire will support them with their laundry, maintain the communal areas, light meal prep, unload/load the dishwasher, and encourage them to clean up after themselves.
The family needs more support when the dad travels for work. There may be an occasional overnight/weekend.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE | As mentioned above, the boys are highly gifted. They need someone who can match their intelligence. They need mental stimulation as much as emotional and physical stimulation. Therefore, this role requires someone with a college degree.
They would love for this person to be warm and genuinely enjoy kids and being around them. They want someone who will be playful and conscientious, learning about each child and their personality. An authentic connection with the whole family is extremely important.
They know how to set clear boundaries and remain kind and calm while being firm and consistent. Like most young children, the youngest may test boundaries with new faces, so he needs someone who can navigate this confidently and easily. As with any siblings, sibling rivalry can occur. It’s rare, as the boys truly understand how to communicate with each other, but it may happen. The new nanny/manny must know how to navigate these moments calmly and non-shamingly.
They should be comfortable working in partnership with the parents, having open lines of communication with all family members, and working independently when needed. This person should also be reliable, trustworthy, consistent, and dedicated to their career and the families they work for.
This person needs to be organized, able to remember and keep track of multiple things, and have good time management skills. They must also be proactive and take the initiative with the day-to-day tasks.
