**Job Summary**:
The University of San Francisco is in the second year of its most ambitious fundraising campaign. The USF Campaign has a $500M goal that will vastly enhance the University's presence and scholarship in the arts, health and life sciences, and entrepreneurism, as well as continue to provide access and opportunity for our diverse population of students.
There are more than 1,900 identified campaign prospects rated $1 million+ and over 800 of them are categorized as having a high likelihood of making a major gift to USF. Working closely with the Senior Director, Major Gifts, the Director of Development oversees the fundraising strategy for several key areas and programs on campus: Women in Leadership and Philanthropy, Black Achievement, Success and Engagement (BASE), The Institute for Nonviolence and Social Justice, and the McCarthy Center for Public Service and the Common Good. The Director manages relationships and secures support from donors capable of making gifts of $25,000+ with focus on gifts of $100,000 or more. The Director coordinates the participation and involvement of campus leadership and directors of the individual units with these fundraising efforts.

**PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**
**65% Major Gifts Fundraising**
- Designs and implements a comprehensive development plan to increase philanthropic support for funding priorities within the University.
- Manages a portfolio of 90-110 individual major gift prospects, the majority with the capacity to give $250,000 or more.
- Makes at least 6-10 significant prospect/donor visits per month. Qualifies 12-24 major gift prospects per year.
- Cultivates and solicits current use and endowment gifts directly, including proposal development.
- Conducts 15-24 solicitations with emphasis on gifts exceeding $100,000, including principal gifts at $1,000,000 or greater.
**20% Leadership and Collaboration**
- Advises unit directors and other leadership on fundraising strategy, solicitation opportunities, proposal development, and identifies faculty to highlight to USF's different giving audiences.
- Works with the Director of Regional Engagement and Programs to advance the fundraising priorities of the Women in Leadership and Philanthropy initiative.
- Partners with Corporation and Foundation Relations, Gift Planning, and Annual Fund teams to achieve annual and campaign development goals.
- Engage in collaborative efforts within the Development division to strategize solicitation approaches for key prospects.
**15% Volunteer Management and Events**
- Collaborates with unit directors to identify, recruit, and actively engage advisory board members with a focus on major gift prospect identification, solicitation, and stewardship.
- Plan and execute small donor events and luncheons and partner with Development Special Events on other events and lectures relevant to focus areas.
**QUALIFICATIONS**:
- Bachelor's degree required.
- Five years of progressive and successful development experience in major gifts, preferably in higher education.
- Demonstrated ability to build rapport with prospects and donors and successfully move them through the moves management cycle.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, including proposal writing and the ability to deliver a compelling case for support.
- Ability to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to develop and deliver innovative ideas and programs.
- Commitment to appropriate use of sensitive, confidential constituent data and familiarity with relevant privacy laws.
- Demonstrated time management, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Willingness to travel and work weekend/evening hours.
