Associate Analytical Scientist, in Vitro Assay

Job Summary:
**Responsibilities**:

- Retrieve and prepare assay samples, prepare assay plates
- Prepare and maintain instruments (Biomec, Genovac, LC/MS, automation platforms, shakers, centrfuges, liquid handlers) in good working condition and perform troubleshooting analysis and maintenance as required including tuning the MS
- Run in vitro assays according to SOP, analyze and distribute data
- Quickly respond to and diagnose instrument failures, where you may fix the issues, or escalate the issue to a vendor.
- Other duties and assignments as needed to support lab operations
- Help coach/mentor junior Spectrix scientists on site

**Qualifications**:

- A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in a scientific discipline such as chemistry biochemistry or engineering and 2-5 years’ lab experience beyond a BS degree is required
- Ability to perform basic laboratory skills including pipetting, preparing solvents, standards, and buffers is required
- Strong communication, customer service, Windows PC and MS Office skills required
- Experience with Sciex and MassLynx software and hardware is preferred
- Individual must be self-motivated (able to quickly learn a procedure and complete it independently with minimum supervision), well-organized (able to dovetail tasks to allow multitasking with automation), detail oriented, reliable, able to prioritize workload and provide excellent customer service.
- Individual must demonstrate excellent communication skills
- Individual must demonstrate strong problem solving skills
- Individual must conduct activities in compliance with client’s safety, waste disposal, and other regulatory guidelines
- Capable of working with hazardous chemicals and can identify and report unsafe equipment, conditions, and practices so that they may be corrected prior to an incident
- Individual must be able to lift 18L solvent containers
- Experience using analytical HPLC and MS instrumentation with a basic understanding of underlying principles required

Pay: $33.50 - $44.50 per hour
