**JOB OPPORTUNITY**

**2024 Seasonal Naturalist** **Position**

The Houston Parks and Recreation Department has one opening for a seasonal 6-month position at **Lake Houston Wilderness Park **with a start date in June or July, 2024.

**Lake Houston Wilderness Park: Seasonal Naturalist**

Duties and Responsibilities:

- Assist the Park Naturalist in leading and creating programming at the Nature Center.
- A special project will be assigned
- Assist with animal care and handling including snakes, alligators, turtles, etc.
- Assist with camps, programs, and other outdoor recreation programs
- Assist with all aspects of park operations, grounds maintenance, and facility maintenance

**Requirements**:

- Recent graduate or a college junior or senior interested in a full time 6- month position
- Must be able to work a 40-hour work week including weekends and holidays
- Have a strong interest in the parks, conservation, or animal care fields
- Individuals must be detail oriented, organized, motivated and able to work with mínimal supervision
- **Housing is provided, and the pay is $13.50/hour**_

**Job Types**: Full-time, Temporary

Pay: $13.00 - $14.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week

Schedule:

- 8 hour shift
- Day shift
- Weekends as needed

Work setting:

- In-person

**Education**:

- Bachelor's (preferred)
