**Pediatric Field Nurse**

**Primary function**:
The Pediatric Field Nurse delivers direct care to the pediatric patient admitted for service. The main function
of the pediatric field nurse is to implement, coordinate, and evaluate the skilled interventions and related care
functions determined necessary by the attending physician and agency supervisory staff.

**Supervision**:
The Pediatric Field Nurse works in coordination with RN and LVN peers, and reports to the Supervising RN
(Clinical Manager) for all clinical concerns. For scheduling concerns, the Pediatric Field Nurse reports to the
staffing coordinator.All field staff ultimately report to the agency Director.

**Employee Qualifications: Pediatric RN or LVN**
- Graduate of an approved school of nursing
- Current licensure in the state of practice
- Passing score of 70% on the Pediatric Employment Screening Exam
- Minimum of one year of clinical experience preferred in:

- In
- hospital pediatrics, PICU, NICU, or infant care specialty
- Outpatient or pediatric clinic care
- Labor and delivery
- Emergency room with pediatric exposure
- Adult critical care
- School or habilitative care environment
- Other experiences commensurate with case specific responsibilities
- Current CPR certification
- Evidence of good health
- Meet all other general employment requirements, in accordance with regulatory requirements
- Reliable transportation
- Ability and desire to participate in family education and family centered care
- Effective communication skills with both children and adults
- Pediatric infusion nurses additionally have at least 6 months infusion experience and have completed the pediatric infusion competency assessment.

**Required Skills**:
Required skills are based on client needs and employees will be assigned based on a match of client needs as
defined in the plan of care and employee skill level.
Job Performance Requirements:

- Adheres to agency policies and procedures.
- Complies with all current licensure (RN or LVN)
- Deliver direct client care:

- Perform and/or assist the client with all personal care activities.
- Complete skilled interventions for the client as outlined in the physician’s orders and plan of care.
- Administer prescribed medications and treatments (as permitted by the Nurse Practice Act or LVN licensing standards)
- Participate in client/ family teaching.
- Perform household tasks which are directly essential to the client’s needs.
- Maintain a clean, healthy and safe environment.
- Maintain sufficient and functional supplies and equipment required to care for the client.

- Seizure disorder care
- Private duty nurses provide services to patients that need in-home monitoring, those who require

adjustments to treatment regimens often, and patients with medical conditions that require frequent
assessments and care plan changes.
- Private duty nurses have several goals that include preventing medical complications that could result in facility placement, providing medically necessary nursing care to patients in their homes, providing care for patients transitioning to in-home care, and assessing, providing, and monitoring professional care for patients by the hour.
- Report significant changes in client condition to the agency supervisory staff and the attending physician, as appropriate.
- Accompany the client on all physician or therapeutic visits which occur during assigned shift.
- Deliver indirect client care:

- Maintain the client medical record according to agency policies in the individual home care
setting
- Maintain open communication with the family. Other professionals caring for the client, and
the supervising staff or case manager.
- Foster family and /or client independence
- Maintain good attendance

Pay: $30.00 - $40.00 per hour
