**Job Title**: Peer Mentor, Part-Time, Pay: $26/hr with 15 hours per week.

**Position Summary**:

- The peer mentor communicates one-one-one via telephone with individuals living with a mental health condition or their family members.

**Essential Functions & Duties**:

- **Provide support for up to 10 individuals who are living with a mental health condition or caring for someone with a mental health condition.**
- Complete 16-hour professional training workshop
- Provide instructional, informational, emotional, and advocacy support to participants through weekly phone calls.
- Complete digital records of calls.
- Attend weekly development meetings with PS&S Supervisor.
- **Serve as a model in carrying out the NAMI Orange County mission.**
- Direct all activities towards the fulfillment of the NAMI Orange County mission.
- Direct all actions to reflect the values and principles of NAMI Orange County.
- Establish and maintain an environment that encourages teamwork, collaboration, and ethical behavior.
- Maintain regular, reliable, and predictable attendance.
- Support other members of the team and their work.

**Other Duties: This job description incorporates the essential functions and duties required for this position. However, other duties may be required and assigned at times, as determined by a supervisor in order to meet the needs of the organization.**

**Knowledge, Skills & Abilities**:

- Good communication skills and listening skills
- Well organized
- Ability to be supportive and establish rapport over the phone.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.

**Education Experience & other requirements**:

- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Must have experience working with individuals that have mental health conditions.
- Ability to provide own transportation to attend in-person meetings/trainings (as needed)
- Ability to attend weekly meetings via Zoom and phone calls.

**Certificates, Licensures, & Language Skills**:Bilingual: English/Spanish

**Physical Requirements & Equipment Usage**:

- Position requires little to moderate physical activity. Position is HYBRID, but must be able to come into the office location as needed.
- Peer Mentor reports to the Peer Connector Coach & Supervisor
