- Assist shipping and receiving as necessary

**DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES**

Follows explicit instructions (Calculation/Blending/Formulation Sheets) to prepare various

materials to meet chemical and physical property specifications. Activities include:

- Balance Verification and Calibration

▪ Use NIST certified weights to verify balance performance and perform calibration of

balance when verification fails.
- Gravimetric Formulation (Wt. /Wt.)

▪ Weigh (to specified accuracy) and record analyte and matrix components to form

mixtures that achieve target end-volumes (weights) and concentrations (Wt. %, mg/Kg,

etc.).
- Volumetric Formulation (Vol. /Vol.)

▪ Measure volumes (mLs, liters, ounces, etc.) of materials (to specified accuracy) and

record analyte and matrix components to form mixtures that achieve target end-volumes

and concentrations (Vol. %, mLs/liter, etc.).
- Wt. / Vol. formulation

▪ Weigh (to specified accuracy) and measure volumes (mLs, liters, ounces, etc.) and

record analyte and matrix components to form mixtures that achieve target end-volumes

or weights and concentrations (mg/liter, ug/mL, etc.).
- Prepares, transfers and archives (as required) various documentation related to ASI

operating materials (stock solutions, matrices, etc.) and final products. Documentation

activities include, but are not limited to the following:
▪ Accurate record keeping of data needed for Calculation / Blend Sheets

▪ Rework tracking sheets

▪ Stores documentation and archival as required
- Maintains working materials and supplies:
▪ Maintain working levels (fill as needed) at-process bulk matrix containers

- Maintain bulk supply levels (order as needed) of the various “large” volume raw material

supplies (drums, 5-gallon pails, etc.)
- Formulation Lab Maintenance
- Monitors and places internal orders for routine working supplies

▪ Personal protective equipment,

▪ Consumables - Pipets, weigh trays, funnels, etc.

▪ Works with Production & Quality Control Manager to ensure all formulation lab

systems and equipment are working properly. Includes but not limited to:
▪ Balances, Oven, Grinder, Hoods/Ventilation

▪ Maintains formulation lab cleanliness and records activity on the preventative

maintenance checklist
- Assists Product Development department as needed
- Completes ongoing training for continued personal and professional development

▪ Manufacturing lab standard operating procedures

▪ Product Development Observation and Document Control

▪ Safety Policy and Procedures

▪ Others as required by supervisor

**OTHER DUTIES**
- Assists shipping activities, serves as primary shipping agent as required
- Assists receiving of production and other business supplies
- Place orders for reagents, supplies, resell items, etc.
- File hard copies of all standards preparation (formulation) spreadsheets.
- Performs end-of-day and other routine housekeeping duties
- Manage time effectively, meet personal goals and work effectively with other members of the

production team.
- Lead or assist in scheduled physical inventory counts.
- Maintain proficiency in using personal computer, data entry terminal and other common office

equipment and software.
- Identify trends in internal customer satisfaction or dissatisfaction.
- Follow company policies and procedures.
- Present a professional image at all times to customers and vendors.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

**REPORTING & SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES**

The Production/Formulation Chemist reports to the Lab Director/ Principal Chemist.

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
