**Responsibilities**:
This position is will primarily be responsible for performing experiments aimed at generation of induced pluripotent stem cells for the NYBC iPSC bank.and advanced complex research activities to complete science-based projects. This role will work independently to design, plan and develop new methods and technologies for project advancement.
- Initiate and complete tissue culturing protocols with reproducibility and sterile technique.
- Perform primary tissue processing and purification of blood cells.
- Assist with execution and image acquisition of immunofluorescent microscopy.
- Isolation of mRNA and quantification using RT-qPCR techniques.
- Perform of various ancillary experiments involved in projects as needed.
- Maintain accurate records for individual experiments and project evolvement.
- Maintain records for ordering and inventory of supplies
- Maintain documentation for Standard Operating Procedures as developed by the iPSC bank.
- Collegial communication and professional relationships with members of the LFKRI.
- Listens carefully to others in order to respond appropriately, answer questions or obtain needed information.
- Communicates ideas, problems, suggestions, and messages in a timely and effective manner.
- Maintains confidentiality of all research information.
- Maintains excellent and professional-level communication skills in oral and written English.
- Uses good judgement and decision-making skills in the execution of all experiments.
- Seeks guidance as necessary for the performance of duties; asks appropriate questions when in doubt and utilizes reference sources/materials to ensure accuracy.
- Advises appropriate personnel of situations/problems requiring intervention or follow-up attention.
- Create, propose and oversee new research methodologies and technologies for advanced complex research activities.
- Review, modify and improve existing research methodologies and technologies for advanced complex research activities.
- Plan, set up and perform advanced complex research activities.
- Perform required project-specific techniques, such as molecular biology, cell-based, culturing specific pathogens, biochemical, immunological analyses, animal experimentations, and/or cell biology.
- Collect research data and ensure precision, accuracy and reproducibility of the data.
- Review and perform critical scientific analysis of research data, and develop experimental outcomes and conclusions.
- Develop written presentation and publication of research data, figures, outcomes and conclusions.
- Manage logs/files and laboratory resources.
- Mentor volunteers.

Qualifications:
**Education**:
BS or higher in molecular cell biology, biochemistry or related field, or higher.

**Experience**:
Minimum 0-2-year advanced experience in a research or clinical lab. Experience handling primary samples, tissue culture and using microscopes is required.

Any combination of education, training and experience that has provided the necessary knowledge, skills and experience to perform the essential functions of the job.

For applicants who will perform this position in New York City or Westchester County, the proposed annual salary is $45,000.00 p/yr. to $49,000.00 p/yr. For applicants who will perform this position outside of New York City or Westchester County, salary will reflect local market rates and be commensurate with the applicant’s skills, job-related knowledge, and experience.
