Summary

Reporting to the Director of Operations and Administration for the School of Arts and Sciences, the Manager of Social Sciences oversees operations, administrative management, and strategic operations and admin decisions/priorities for the Division of Social Sciences and the departments and programs therein. Manage the departmental and divisional administrative, business, process, and financial operations. Supervise division managers and academic admin staff. Establish efficiencies in service delivery and collaborate with managers/Directors of other Divisions to make process across Division consistent and equitable. Ensure administrative support of Division Heads and Division Councils.

**Job Description**:
Management: Manage the team of administrators in assigned Division to ensure student and faculty satisfaction. Triage problems for department and program chairs and suggest solutions to administrative and operational challenges in the departments, programs or Division; generate new processes to further operational goals. Support different administrative areas (academic, graduate, operational, or events/communications) during busy seasons, stepping in to assist in completing tasks as necessary. 60%

Strategic operations: Strategize with other Division managers regarding consistent and efficient practices across the school. Implement changes and support staff in learning new systems or processes. Collaborate with Dean’s office on requests. Liaise with other campus offices to solve problems and foster collaboration. 20%

Division support: Advise Division Head on division-level processes and implement new systems and procedures. Support Division Head in ensuring that Division-related tasks are complete and Division Council is supported. Represent the Division on appropriate committees and working groups that call for staff input. 15%

Other duties: Other duties as assigned. 5%

**Requirements**:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree; Master’s degree strongly preferred- Experience: 5-8 years
