**ABOUT BREAKTHROUGH CENTRAL TEXAS**

Founded in 2002, Breakthrough is a postsecondary access and completion nonprofit with the mission of supporting students to become first-generation college graduates. We start our partnership with students and their families early, in sixth grade, and make a 12-year commitment to helping the student realize their goals of a postsecondary degree. By combining out-of-school learning experiences, advising, and a long-term commitment, we help students overcome barriers to success in the secondary and higher education system. We are student-centric, believing firmly in the potential of all students, regardless of race, ethnicity, gender identity/expression, sexual orientation, national origin, income, or immigration status. We are committed for the long run with students, helping them navigate the transition from middle school to high school to postsecondary institutions with a comprehensive and individualized approach to supporting students on their path to academic success. Breakthrough’s programs and services are effective and based on the evidence of research and in the lived experience of our students. Currently, Breakthrough Central Texas annually admits 280 middle school students from Austin ISD, Manor ISD, and Del Valle ISD. By summer 2022, the organization will serve close to 2,500 students from 6th grade through age 24.

Breakthrough Central Texas is proud of the many, diverse students who work hard in school and participate in Breakthrough. Credit for their success goes first and foremost to the students and the family members who support them every day. While Breakthrough participants are consistently outperforming their peers in on-time high school graduation, postsecondary enrollment, and postsecondary degree and certificate attainment, the organization recognizes that more needs to be done to improve its programs and services. By 2025, Breakthrough will be serving approximately 3,000 students in Central Texas and it is investing in improving the organization’s effectiveness and efficiency while expanding its impact.

**ABOUT THE ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR OF COLLEGE AND CAREER SUCCESS**

The Associate Director provides critical leadership to the college team, helping train and support this high-performing team to implement best practices in advising college students and high school graduates on their path to attain a bachelor’s degree, associate degree, or credential/certificate while pursuing their passions and preparing for their career. While the Director is responsible for setting the strategic vision of the team, the Associate Director is responsible for the execution of key parts of this strategy.

To achieve the above, the Associate Director will:

- Lead the College and Career Success Team in the build-out of trainings and materials to continuously improve our advising efforts for students enrolled in two-year pathways, or students seeking to re-enroll in a postsecondary pathway, with a particular focus on academic and transfer options as well as financial aid advising
- Lead efforts to track and monitor our students’ academic progress in our Salesforce database with the goal of implementing proactive and preventative academic advising support to students
- Develop and lead our partnership with key institutional contacts and offices for expanded student support at campuses with large student populations
- Design and provide timely reports regarding program outputs and outcomes to drive continuous improvement
- Alongside the Director, provide leadership and support in the design, planning, and implementation of key programs and services, including but not limited to: the Breakthrough Internship Network, Grad Fest Celebration, the Summer Success and Sophomore Strong efforts, financial aid tracking, re-engagement and re-enrollment efforts
- Along with the Director, help co-lead the team in the collection and analysis of college enrollment, persistence, and completion data to determine trends, barriers, and student needs, and utilize learnings to inform and improve our programs and services.
- Manage a caseload of students to support them to take academic and non-academic steps necessary to achieve postsecondary success
- Develop and maintain relationships with a diverse group of students and families
