**How you will make an impact**:
The Analytical Chemistry Staff Scientist is a member of the BioProduction R&D team responsible for the investigation of cell culture media. Working directly with a broad cross-functional team we provide analytical chemistry support for the biopharmaceutical industry. We analyze the impact of cell culture conditions on metabolism and recombinant protein production to support the manufacture of recombinant therapeutics. In addition to development of new media and related products, our new team member will also assist in troubleshooting and optimizing existing products. **What you will do**:
Our Staff Scientist will work independently and alongside a team of research scientists. Their responsibilities include lab work, data analysis and review, generation of reports, and troubleshooting. They are accountable for the timeliness, accuracy, precision, and interpretation of data. Additionally, they will provide expertise for functional and cross-functional technology and product development. This leader will participate and manage meetings with clients.

**Responsibilities**:

- Leads analytical investigations by communicating with the customer, identifying potential root causes, and running experiments in the laboratory to gather supporting data.
- Designs and performs chromatographic and spectroscopic analysis of samples.
- Utilizes their organic chemistry expertise to identify potential chemical reactions within complex formulations.
- Writes investigation reports, technical manuscripts, posters, and other scientific content.
- Supports the development of the Global Analytical Chemistry strategic and innovation roadmap.
- Collaborates closely with global analytics, R&D teams, and cross-functional business units.
- Responsible for generating novel innovation proposals.

**How you will get here**:
**Education**:

- B.S. degree and a minimum of 10 years of proven experience, M.S. degree with at least 5-10 years of recognized experience, or Ph.D. degree with a minimum of 3-5 years of established experience.

**Experience, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities**:
Our newest colleague will be skilled in leading, managing, and mentoring scientific teams of analytical chemists. They will have experience understanding and predicting chemical interactions of bio-active molecules, such as amino acids, vitamins, lipids, and non-organic elements, within mixtures. Because we analyze both mammalian and prokaryotic cell culture media formulations, we anticipate that the senior chemist will have shown expertise in operating and processing data from the following types of equipment:

- HPLC/UPLC-MS, ICP-MS, or GC-MS (Thermo Fisher, Waters, Agilent)
- Single, triple quadrupole, Orbitrap, or Q-TOF mass spectrometers
- FTIR, NIR, Raman, XRF, or SEM-EDS

**Compensation and Benefits**:
