ERVING SCHOOL UNION #28(Erving, Leverett, Shutesbury, New Salem and Wendell)Is accepting applications for: DIRECTOR OF STUDENT SUPPORT SERVICES SPECIAL EDUCATIONSTART DATE: JULY 1, 2024APPLICATION DEADLINE: MAY 24, 2024QUALIFICATIONS and RESPONSIBILITIES: -The overall responsibility is to support our student's equitable access to excellent educational options, to enjoy learning, and to discover their unique strengths, interests, strategies for learning, and tools they need to elevate their learning-Maintain student, parent, and team confidentiality -Collaborate closely with Student Support Services Coordinator to ensure prompt and precise special education documentation-Oversight of all special education programs, policies and procedures; in-district and out-of-district student referrals, placement and programming; student referrals, evaluation and IEP development processes and procedures-Oversight of all -Title VI, IX and Civil Rights Coordinator-Write special education (240; 262) grants, and collaborate with principals and Director of Finance and Operations in the budget lines for those grants, and maintain compliance on all grant requirements-With Coordinator, submit annual Circuit Breaker files-Maintain communication with legal counsel regarding compliance with all special education regulations-Attend trainings to maintain current knowledge of regulations, legal issues-Participate on Union #28 Leadership team, offering contributions regarding special education compliance, student equitable access to excellent educational opportunities-Conduct annual trainings (parents rights; civil rights)-At the request of the district team, participate in IEP meetings-Communicate with parents in a supportive and knowledgeable manner, with the well-being of their child as the focus-Communicate and collaborate with and support individual teachers and student support teams, always with a positive, action oriented, and student-centered approach -Outstanding communication skills-Excellent time management and organizational skills-Complete DESE special education and Civil Rights Program Review on DESE rotating schedule-Administrator of Special Education License--Massachusetts
