**Join Our Team as a Psychiatric RN Intake Specialist**

We are looking for experienced psychiatric nurses (RN) to join our Intake and Referral Center team. The Be Well Intake and Referral Center functions as a front door to services at the Be Well Campuses, where our primary goal is to open access to care for individuals seeking mental health and substance use treatment services. This team will operate 24/7 onsite at the Be Well Campus in Orange.

What You´ll Do: With support and direction from the Intake & Referral Center Manager, Intake Specialists serve as the main point of contact to directly place clients into care by providing intake assessments and making placement decisions, with the goal of reducing access barriers to care so all residents in OC may experience wellness and healing. You will work closely with onsite provider teams, care navigators, mobile response teams, and local healthcare departments to streamline intake processes and reduce treatment wait times.

**Primary Functions**:

- Respond to callers requesting treatment services and/or resources for mental health and substance use issues.
- Screen callers to determine client’s needs and appropriate level of care and perform a clinical assessment to begin the intake process.
- Screen referral packets from hospitals and other referral sources. Respond promptly to the referral source to inform them if the client can be admitted to a Be Well program. Ensure that all referral paperwork is complete and accurate.
- Work collaboratively with all Be Well Campus onsite service providers to stay informed about bed availability and to ensure that callers meet program admission criteria. Engage in excellent communication with providers and programs to ensure a smooth intake process for the client.
- Communicate with managed care organizations to obtain insurance pre-authorizations promptly.

**Qualifications**:

- Current and unrestricted California license as Registered Nurse.
- Completion of nursing degree from accredited school of nursing.
- Two (2) or more years in intensive care or emergency department nursing, preferred
- Proficiency with DSM V diagnostic criteria and clinical terminology.
- Must be CPR and First Aid certified on the date of employment or within 60 days of employment and maintain current certification throughout employment.
- Maintains knowledge of legal guidelines pertaining to EMTALA/COBRA and abuse/neglect reporting.
- Knowledgeable about harm reduction, trauma-informed care, patient-centered care, and motivational interviewing.
- Ability to work effectively with a diverse population, including the impoverished, unhoused, and those suffering from chronic mental health challenges.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills, written and verbal communication, adaptability, and professionalism.
- Exudes a calm and competent manner, able to converse with medical professionals, lay persons, and persons or families in crisis.
- Must be organized and able to multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work with all levels of management and team members with diplomacy and tact.
- A keen sense of compassion and ability to maintain a calm demeanor amid high-intensity situations.
- Good judgment with the ability to make timely and sound decisions.
- Creative, flexible, and innovative team player.

*Placement in the pay range is based on multiple factors including, but not limited to, relevant years of experience and qualifications.
