**Grant & Government Relations Specialist**

**Job Summary**:
The role supports and participates in business development activities in concurrence with the government relations team while also working in conjunction with the firm’s marketing team to help shape public opinion of the firm and increase awareness of its brand. Collaboration between government relations, proposal coordination, branding, media and graphics brings credibility, consistency and greater visibility to firm communication efforts.

This role adheres to and promotes the firm’s mission and values by performing respective duties in a manner that supports and contributes to the achievement of the firm’s goals.

**Essential duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to**:
**40% - **_Grant Writing_**
- Develop and implement grant strategies to secure project funding and renewal opportunities.
- Conduct prospect research to identify new funding opportunities.
- Coordinate with program staff to align grant objectives with organizational goals.
- Assemble information including project nature, objectives, deliverables, implementation methods, timetable, staffing, budget, standards of performance and evaluation.
- Initiates budget developments and revisions to ensure efficiency and effectiveness of grant services.
- Serve as task lead/key staff for grant assistance contracts; manage scope, schedule, budget and financial reporting. Support clients in the obligation of their grant funds.
- Potentially serve as liaison between the firm, county and grant funding source by attending meetings, responding to information requests and resolving issues.

**_50% - Government Relations Activities _**

The Grant & Government Relations Specialist is a collaborative role that aids in business development activities in concurrence with the government relations team while also working in conjunction with the firm’s marketing team to help influence public opinion of the firm and increase cognizance of the brand. Duties include but are not limited to:

- Collaborate with the planning and execution of business development strategies to maintain favorable public and stakeholder views of the firm.
- Participate and contribute to business development activities in pursuit of grant support consultant contracts.
- Actively contribute to client engagement and foster client relationships, current with trends and opportunities.
- Organize, attend and/or volunteer as needed at events and/or meetings applicable to the firm’s goals in securing work in the public sector and in support of collaborative initiatives.
- Contribute to and assist in marketing and business development meetings with members of the marketing team and public sector internal team members to share, collaborate and brainstorm on government relations efforts, strategies, tracking and activities.
- Collaborate in evaluating opportunities for projects, partnerships, sponsorships and advertising on an on-going basis.
- Perform other related duties and assignments as necessary and relevant to the firm’s interests.

**10% - **_Marketing & Internal Team Collaboration_**

As a member of the marketing team the Grant & Government Relations Specialist works in collaboration with Government Relations, Branding, Media and Graphics Services, Proposal Coordination Services and public sector employees as it pertains to the following:

- Assist in organizing, planning, attending, maintaining, executing and/or tracking various marketing related activities for the firm.
- Collaborate with Proposal Coordination Services as needed to assist with developing effective responses to Requests for Qualifications (RFQs) as well as the preparation of interview presentations and materials.
- Collaborate with social media content, fine tuning presentations, reports, articles and brochures for both external and internal distribution.
- Attend weekly marketing team meeting.
- Consistently develop and help maintain the firm’s CRM, Cosential.
- Perform other related duties and assignments as required.

**Knowledge, Skills and Abilities**:

- This role requires 3-5 years of relevant experience grant and/or report writing, prospect research, general fundraising and/or comparable transferable skills acquired in a professional setting.
- This role requires early mornings, evenings and occasional weekend commitments as needed.
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, in particular Word and Excel, knowledge of advanced functions in Excel preferred.
- Proficiency in Adobe Suite, especially InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop is preferred.
- High professional and ethical standards for handling confidential information.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Strong technical writing, critical thinking and problem-solving skills, ability to engage in strategic planning and process improvement.
