**Job Summary**:
The Administrative Enforcement Section (“AES”) carries out the Department's investigative and enforcement functions. The Department's regulated community engages in a wide variety of services that relate to Arizona consumers' day-to-day lives.

The AES performs a great public service by protecting Arizona's consumers from bad actors, while justly enforcing Arizona's laws against any regulated or unauthorized individual or entity that engages in prohibited conduct. This position consists of conducting fact gathering, case management, and drafting of documents relating to the Department's enforcement functions.

Investigations may encompass consumer complaints involving: 1) individuals or entities conducting unlicensed activity, or 2) licensed individuals or entities, such as a financial institution or enterprise, or insurance agents engaging in misconduct. The Investigator will be able to take pride in their work by investigating the circumstances of each case and ultimately aiding in the prosecution of misconduct over individuals and entities under the Department's jurisdiction.

This position is fast paced and engaging, and offers great potential for learning the inner-workings of the insurance and financial services world. As a Investigator, the position will involve investigations into less complex cases. In addition, the Investigator will handle some of the administrative functions of AES.

The position will allow the Investigator to work semi-autonomously by taking ownership over their own caseload.

**Job Duties**:
**Investigation and fact gathering**
- An Investigator's main job duty is to gather all relevant information in order to determine whether a person has engaged in violation of applicable laws and regulations
- A typical investigation consists of multiple steps, including but not limited to, assessing the initial jurisdiction question for each specific case, setting up the complaint file, correspondence with all involved parties including conducting under-oath examinations, analyzing all gathered evidence, drafting subpoenas to obtain additional information, researching relevant databases and complex matters, and drafting disposition reports upon completion of the investigation
- To complete an investigation, the Investigator must possess the ability to critically analyze insurance and financial documents, efficiently use Internet-based resources and databases, as well as proficiently document and keep track of the case's development
- Additionally, the Investigator may participate in future administrative proceedings relating to their investigation including preparation with the Department's attorney, an in-depth review of relevant documents, and appearing as a witness on the Department's behalf in administrative or judicial proceedings

**Drafting of AES orders**
- The Investigator will draft consent orders relating to completed AES cases to involve the careful reading of submitted disposition reports, organizing all relevant information and drafting a well structured and well written report
- The report will be submitted up-line for review and the junior investigator will have to comply with any notes and suggestions received from the supervisor

**Case Management**
- The Investigator will be responsible for keeping an updated spreadsheet of all active cases, including detailed descriptions of the case's status, and pending issues or resolutions that require supervisory input
- The Investigator will track all cases assigned to them and maintain electronic case files in the Department's case management databases
- Additionally, the investigator will keep and maintain all other records gathered throughout an investigation
- The investigator may be also asked to provide case updates upon request
