**Facilities Supervisor - DPW Facilities Maintenance Section**

**Essential Function**:
The **Facilities Supervisor** is responsible for the daily operations of the Facilities Maintenance Unit of the DPW including all related work as required.

Works under the direction of the DPW Director; appointed by the Town Manager

This is an appointed, compensated, full-time employment position with the Town of Auburn. This is a non-union, “exempt” position under the Federal Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA)

**Examples of Work**:
Directly supervises the activities and performance of and provides functional oversight to Skilled Craftsmen. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with Auburn’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Plans, organizes and schedules work for assigned crews performing a variety of construction maintenance and repair duties. Ensures all work is performed in compliance with established policies and procedures as well as applicable safety regulations. Operates a variety of heavy equipment, exercising caution as necessary.

Performs a variety of repair, maintenance and construction functions at town owned facilities including but not limited to Town Hall, the Library, the Senior Center, Camp Gleason, Police Station, Fire Headquarters and West Street Station in addition to facilities under the jurisdiction of the School Department.

Coordinates with Town Manager and Department Heads to maintain current the Facility Improvements Plan. Prioritizing capital improvement and non-capital improvement projects as well as documenting completed projects. Responds to a variety of inquiries and requests from other departments concerning facility operations and services and maintains regular contact with a variety of vendors.

Evaluates facility repairs, upgrades and construction and develops cost analyses and recommendations.

Maintains inventory of parts and supplies, ordering as necessary to ensure adequate provisions.

Performs other duties and tasks as assigned by the DPW Director

**Minimum Qualifications**

Must possess and maintain a valid Driver’s License

Five to eight years’ experience in construction and carpentry

**Preferred Qualifications**

Construction Supervisor’s License

Licensed Electrician

Licensed Plumber

**Knowledge, Ability and Skill**

Possess the ability to perform carpentry skills such as:
Reading and understanding architectural plans

Framing structures level to elevations specified on plans

Knowledge and experience with pouring concrete and finish work

Installation of sheathing, sheetrock, siding, and roofing materials

Finish work associated with all aspects of facility projects

**PHYSICAL, MOTOR, AND VISUAL SKILLS**

**Physical Skills**

Work requires moderate intermittent physical strength and effort daily, such as, lifting heavy objects, carrying the object(s) and stacking them or placing them in a vehicle or storage area. In addition, pulling, pushing, standing or walking for the full work day may also be involved.

**Motor Skills**

**Visual Skills**

Visual demands require routinely reading documents, blueprints and construction plans for general understanding and analytical purposes.

**WORK ENVIRONMENT**

Working conditions involve occasional exposure to elements found in the field, such as work sites, walking property to inspect, construction sites, etc. May be exposed to elements, but work can typically be rescheduled to avoid harsh elements.

Pay: $77,000.00 - $83,000.00 per year
