The Borough of Wyomissing in Berks County, PA is looking for an experienced, self-motivated, individual with good customer service skills to join our team as a Buildings and Grounds Maintenance employee. This position performs maintenance and repair of Borough-owned properties including but not limited to Borough Hall, Library, Fire Station, Public Works Garage, Tree House, Parks Barn, swimming pool, playground facilities including the Stone House and pavilions. The applicant must be skilled in basic electric, carpentry, masonry, painting, and plumbing, along with general knowledge of indoor and outdoor building maintenance. Duties include but are not limited to general grounds and facility maintenance and repair, snow, ice and leaf removal from Borough-owned property, painting, and general repairs to Borough buildings and infrastructure systems. As needed, duties will include assisting with Public Works repair and maintenance projects on roads, water systems, storm sewers, and sanitary sewers.

**SUMMARY**: This is a maintenance position which assists in all aspects of maintenance and repair of Borough-owned properties including but not limited to Borough Hall, Library, Fire Station, Public Works Garage, Tree House, Parks Barn, swimming pool, playground facilities including the Stone House and pavilions. Duties include but are not limited to general grounds and facility maintenance and repair, snow, ice and leaf removal from Borough-owned property, painting, and general repairs to Borough buildings and infrastructure systems. As needed, duties will include assisting with Public Works repair and maintenance projects on roads, water systems, storm sewers, and sanitary sewers.

**LEVEL OF SUPERVISION/SUPERVISORY RESPONSBILITIES**:
Work is performed under the specific guidance of the Assistant Public Works Director, the Buildings and Grounds Maintenance Lead, and/or his/her designee.

**ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**: _**(includes but is not limited to the following)**:_
- Maintenance of all Borough-owned facilities including playgrounds, playground equipment and baseball fields.
- Basic electrical, carpentry, masonry, painting, and plumbing
- Mulching
- Trimming and removal of tree limbs or fallen trees on Borough property
- Raking of leaves
- Removal of trash/debris
- Cleaning of pavilions
- Repair of park benches and tables
- Other general repairs
- Small engine and landscaping equipment operation including front mounted mowers, weed whackers, backpack leaf blowers
- Operation of backhoe and tractor
- Assist the Public Works Department as needed with leaf removal, repairs to roads, repair and installation of storm and sanitary sewers
- Application of salt, cinders or anti-skid liquid de-icers and/or removal of snow/ice from roads using plow trucks, backhoes, loaders or small equipment.
- Perform all other related duties as may be assigned/required related to Parks, Recreation, Public Works and all Borough owned facilities, buildings and infrastructure.
- Must be willing to respond on a 24/7 basis for emergency situations that may arise at any time of the day or week and have the ability and willingness to work in excess of 8 hours per day when necessary.

**EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE**:
**LANGUAGE SKILLS**:
Must be able to read, write and understand English at a level sufficient to carry out required duties. Must be able to follow moderately complex directions given both orally and in written form. Have the ability to dialogue with residents in a courteous and professional manor.

**MATHEMATICAL SKILLS**:
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as addition, division, multiplication, percentages, area.

**REASONING ABILITY**:
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Ability to understand, remember, and carry out oral and written directions..
