**Position Title**:LMS Physical Education Teacher Long Term Sub
**Schedule of Duties**:January 6, 2025 through and including March 29, 2025
**Salary**:$82,000 - $164,000 annual/salary based on 100%FTE. Benefits eligible
**Position Purpose**:This position is responsible for teaching physical education to lower and middle school students, with a focus on middle school boys PE (6th, 7th, 8th) and 2nd grade (co-ed.) Additionally, the incumbent may also serve as an advisor to middle school students and engage in coaching various sports at the middle school (4-8) grade level, particularly boys soccer.
**Specific Expectations for P-8 Employees**:In addition to regular teaching responsibilities (including but not limited to preparing curriculum and grade reporting, class prep, student reporting - report card narratives, parent-teacher conferences, supervision duties, classroom substitution, advisory, elective teaching, office hours, outdoor education/field trips, etc.), the following duties and responsibilities are required as part of the P-8 faculty/staff workload: Responsibilities beyond the boundaries of teaching assignments that foster a growth mindset in order to continually improve our P-8 program such as professional development and trainings, attendance of or participation in, mandatory meetings and/or events (Director’s Days, Open Houses, accreditation meetings, etc.) are required as directed by your supervisor. All employees will be paid appropriately and according to current law. If staff are required to work outside of regular work schedule, permission to work outside of the regular work schedule is required; non-exempt employees will receive overtime pay, as eligible.
**Essential Functions**
- Teach a variety of sports and activities in alignment with the California State PE Standards for Kindergarten through 8th grades.
- Must be able to collaborate and design lessons with the Physical Education and Athletic department.
- Utilize varied methods and approaches to material, integrating technology, assessments, projects, etc., to encourage and create engaged learning in the classroom.
- Respond to evaluations and feedback professionally and constructively; demonstrate a commitment to professional growth.
- Provide frequent, meaningful feedback to students, both formative and summative, including report cards and individualized comments.
- Communicate and collaborate effectively with parents.
- Attend professional meetings, educational conferences, and teacher training workshops to maintain and improve teaching and learning.
- Serve as a middle school advisor.
- Perform other duties (recess, dismissal, etc.) as directed.
- Provide a variety of materials and resources for children to explore, manipulate and use both in learning activities and in imaginative play.
- Responsible for coaching multiple sports teams. Must have flexible hours after school to be able to coach on different days of the week, at different locations and times. Games and practices are during the school week (no weekends). The athletic teams offered: cross country, swimming, lacrosse, soccer, basketball, tennis, water polo, golf, and volleyball.
**Other Responsibilities**
- Attend professional meetings, educational conferences, and teacher training workshops in order to maintain and improve professional competence.
- Attend and assist at various events during the year, including but not limited to staying after regular school hours as well as travel to other schools. SHS hosts a swim meet, cross country meet, and track meet. All coaches are expected to attend and assist these various events as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
**Qualifications**
- A clear commitment to the educational philosophy of the school as articulated in the Goals and Criteria Goals and Criteria of Sacred Heart Schools and professional behavior based on it.
- A minimum of three (3) years of teaching Physical Education.
- Obvious passion, skills, knowledge and ability for physical activity and sports.
- Enjoy working with children and outstanding interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work well with students and colleagues; willingness to be an active, enthusiastic member of the SHS community
- Commitment to equity and inclusion.
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills in English. Additional skills in Spanish are highly valued and preferred.
- Demonstrated excellent attendance and punctuality.
**Physical Requirements and Work Environment**
- Ability to travel safely and comfortably across a 64 acre campus.
- May work at a desk and computer for extended periods of time.
- Be able to occasionally lift up to 50 lbs.
- Work primarily in outside weather conditions, including extreme heat and cold.
