**Job Summary**: Housing Specialists provide psychosocial rehabilitative skills training to individuals diagnosed with severe mental illnesses who may also have co-occurring substance use disorders and/or chronic health conditions utilizing a recovery based and trauma-informed perspective. Housing Specialists operate in a dynamic environment, develop extensive knowledge of community resources, collaborate with interdisciplinary teams and cultivate a clinical skill-set by forging therapeutic relationships with diverse community members. Interventions and services are typically provided in the community and require the use of a personal automobile and cell phone.

Housing Specialists work in partnership with racially and culturally diverse individuals to define and facilitate their desired life outcomes. Housing Specialists participate in diagnostic evaluations and provide assessment of strengths, preferences, functional impairments and symptoms of psychiatric and/or co-occurring disorder(s) at regular intervals to ensure optimal and personalized services. Frequent service coordination with external and internal providers is necessary to support individuals in achieving independent functioning. Housing Specialists may provide all or some of the following: deliver therapeutic interventions fostering skills necessary to manage symptoms, obtain/maintain employment or housing, or to obtain services such as school, medical care, nutritional assistance, financial assistance, transportation, legal assistance, and resources fulfilling any basic need.

Housing Specialists may also facilitate psychosocial rehabilitative skills training groups and/or utilize other evidenced-based interventions or therapeutic modalities. Although staff members in this position are not typically LPHA's, staff members in this position are working under the supervision of a LPHA who provides ongoing evaluation and oversight of all assessments, diagnoses and treatment. On-call responsibilities may be required dependent upon unit protocols. This position may have additional duties associated with providing bilingual communication services and requires the completion of a language competency test.

- Graduated from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree with a major specialization in Human/Behavioral/Social Services or related field. Social Services Occupations: 1 year (preferred)

**License**:

- Current and valid driver's license and a clean driving record Integral Care Drivers must have a current and valid Texas driver's license and be approved for automobile liability coverage under the Fund.

All staff who provide face-to-face support to clients as a regular function of their position must maintain current certification in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR).

All staff who provide face-to-face or virtual support to clients as a regular function of their position must maintain current Safety-Care certification.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

An employee in this position must possess knowledge of severe and persistent mental illnesses and commonly co-occurring disorders and case management/service coordination principles.

An employee in this position must effectively communicate their clinical impressions, assess the strengths and functional impairments of those they serve and collaborate with racially and culturally diverse individuals to achieve their goals. An employee in this position must collaborate professionally with an interdisciplinary treatment team and be adaptable to a wide variety of service environments and rapidly evolving clinical circumstances. An employee in this position must possess a beginning knowledge of the principles of psychiatric crisis intervention and be prepared to interact with emergency medical and psychiatric service providers to ensure the safety of Integral Care staff and clients.

An employee in this position must possess computer skills necessary to document work performed and demonstrate the ability to work efficiently to complete all assessments and documentation in a timely manner.

QMHPs prioritize self-care and seek assistance to manage secondary traumatic stress and counter-transferential effects that may result from service provision with vulnerable populations.

Physical, Mental, and Environmental Requirements

Work may require light to moderate carrying (10 to 45 pounds), simple grasping, dual simultaneous grasping, sitting, standing, twisting, kneeling, stooping, walking, climbing stairs/ladders and reaching above shoulders. Capable of working closely with others or alone. Ability to see, read, write, count, tell time and operate office equipment. May require travel.
