We are searching for an experienced Director, Student Learning Center at our Goldsmith Campus - Westchester campus.

**PRIMARY PURPOSE**:
This position oversees the daily operations of the Student Learning Center (SLC) by providing leadership to the SLC staff and is an active member of the college’s Student Success team. This includes but is not limited to: overseeing the scheduling of staff, providing training, assessing programming that includes tutoring, facilitating writing labs, and success coaching, and coordinating communications to promote services. In addition, the Director will work collaboratively with Academic Divisions leadership to ensure that cohesive academic support is provided to all students, including remote and online learners. The director serves on key committees including the Academic Integrity Committee and the Academic Response Team. The Director works closely with the Teaching/Learning Center to identify learning needs for target groups to support faculty development.

This position reports directly to the Senior Director of the Learning Centers who assigns work in terms of the College's strategic planning and department goals and objectives. The supervisor reviews work through conferences, reports, and observation of department activities. This primarily an on-campus position that will support both on campus and remote services. However, some flexibility in scheduling is possibly available in the form of remote workdays and/or an alternative workweek schedule.

**CORE DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Provides overall leadership for the Student Learning Center, including staff and peer tutors.
- Manages the day-to-day operations and services offered by the Student Learning Center, including in-person and online tutoring. Ensures systems and procedures are in place to support the Center’s operations. Develop programs to meet the learning needs of the College’s enrolled students - Tracks department and grant-funded expenses that support the SLC’s programs, services, and outreach efforts. Reconciles budgets on a regular basis, prepares financial reports, and assembles documentation as requested by the Senior Director of the Learning Centers. - Recruits, screens, hires, and trains both students and staff as tutors, teaching assistants, coaches, and lab facilitators. Schedules, assigns, and prioritizes workloads. Monitors performance and provides training, guidance, and feedback on a regular basis. Sets appropriate deadlines as needed.
- Counsels, disciplines, and/or terminates employees as required. - Supervises Writing labs.
- Plans, promotes and conducts training sessions, workshops, and other structured activities for students, faculty, and tutors. Facilitates group discussion of class experience and learning. Provides instruction and guidance that meets the needs of training attendees. - Monitors the effectiveness of trainings, tutoring, and other SLC services. Provides student progress reports, activity feedback, and overall projections upon request. Recommends and implements service modifications as necessary to ensure ongoing support to client groups. - Conducts programming needs assessment using formal surveys and input from faculty, students and/or staff.
- Promotes department products and services. Raises awareness of SLC services and resources to the College community. - Assists with managing the College’s online writing placement program to support online registration. Reviews Writing Placement Assessments (WPA) for all admitted students. Coordinates grading of WPAs with faculty and issues scores to place students in appropriate classes or labs. - Develops and maintains academic support materials and other related documentation for faculty, students, and tutors.
- Serves as administrator and manages SLC online booking system and website.
- Develops a variety of advising methods such as individual coaching, group instruction, demonstrations, blended learning, web-based instruction, meetings and/or workshops. - Establishes and maintains an appropriate network of professional contacts and participation in professional organizations. Maintains currency with pedagogical and technological innovations and emerging trends in the field.
- Attends and participates in meetings, conferences, etc. Represents the College and/or Student Learning Center as appropriate.
- Serves on College committees and participates in key programming such as student and new faculty orientation, Soar Higher student success programming and on-campus job fairs.

**Required Qualifications**:
Master’s degree in English, Composition/Rhetoric, Education, or related field is required. A Ph.D or Ed.D in English, Composition/Rhetoric, Education, or related field is preferred. A minimum of two (2) years of experience teaching developmental English and/or first-year composition courses in a post-secondary setting is required.
