About Queer & Trans Resource Center (QTRC):


The Queer & Trans Resource Center aims to celebrate and honor the identities of all students at San Francisco State University, promoting awareness and understanding of LGBTQQIA-related identities, issues, and culture.


Rooted in the ancestral legacy of queer activists and visionaries and San Francisco State University's commitment to social justice and community engagement, the center provides a range of LGBTQQIA-related events, services, and resources to students.

The Queer & Trans Resource Center acts as an umbrella organization, collaborating with student groups like Queer Alliance, Pride Committee, and CEASE/SAFE Place to create inclusive events and resources for the LGBTQQIA community on campus.


By building alliances with various communities, including ethnic, political, religious, and arts groups, the center acknowledges the interconnectedness of all forms of oppression.

The center invites all students to participate in efforts to promote awareness and understanding of LGBTQQIA-related identities and issues.

Essential Job Functions:
The Assistant Director role includes assisting the
QTRCin:


Overseeing the center's operations, collaborating with the Director on event planning, staff recruitment, and onboarding.

Coordinating educational events for the SFSU community and creating an inclusive environment for QTBIPOC individuals.

Managing
QTRCinternship and volunteer programs focused on LGBTQ+ issues, monitoring service hours, and collecting intern feedback.

Managing social media platforms (Instagram, YouTube, GatorX AS
QTRCwebsite) and maintaining a database of local LGBTQ+ resources.

Addressing inquiries over the phone and in person, maintaining the center's library, and promoting resources within the University community.

Preparing thank you notes for guest speakers and collaborators throughout the year.

Qualifications:
Current SFSU student with a minimum enrollment of 6 units for undergraduates or 4 units for graduates.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Knowledge of LGBTQQIA culture.
Experience in event planning and coordination is desirable.
Specialization or interest in queer and/or trans* studies is preferred.
