Scientist I/study Director

**MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Refine and/or customize models to meet client requests.
- Interface directly with clients and internal customers to understand the needs and deliverables, and define appropriate strategies that will achieve the scientific goals.
- Act as a role model to junior colleagues by demonstrating effective communication and project management.
- Study Director role and responsibility according to SOPs of studies with basic complexity.
- Generates study protocols, study amendments and study timelines;
- Generates IACUC protocols, IACUC amendments, IBCs and may serve as the SD on IACUC protocols;
- May participates in the proposal management and budgetary process;
- May orders materials and supplies as required for projects;
- Generates study calendars (and matrices if applicable);
- Directs study performance including the oversight of primary technicians and the QC of data;
- Reviews, interprets and presents data with assistance from senior scientific staff as applicable for assigned studies;
- Generates Data Submissions, Final Reports and/or Summary Reports with assistance from senior scientific staff;
- Provides technical and scientific guidance to the technical and research staff; may assist in training of personnel;
- Performs necessary technical procedures to keep skills current;
- Proficient in general eye anatomy and physiology as well as multiple disease indications for the eye;
- Able to perform ocular exams in rodents, rabbits, and NHP as well as complex ocular routes of administration
- May present posters and other data in conferences and/or meetings, which includes occasional travel.
- May review/edit company guidelines and SOPs.
- May serve as a contributing member of the IACUC.
- Comprehends procedures and performs tasks according to company policies and SOPs.
- Complies with all regulatory guidelines, occupational health as well as health and safety programs, in accordance with company policies and procedures.
- Performs other duties as required.
