Real Estate Controller

We are looking for an experienced, driven and passionate Real Estate Controller to join our team. The scope of the position is as follows:
**BASIC FUNCTIONS**
The Real Estate Controller acts as a resource for the Operations and Construction teams by overseeing the accounting and reporting functions of the operating, development, and construction entities under the Real Estate branch of Tuscan Brands. This role is an integral part of the real estate team in supporting the Company’s financial needs and developing financial strategy.
Must serve as an exemplary figure to coworkers and represent the company within the framework of its core values.
**MANAGEMENT SCOPE**
Responsible for managing the Lease Admin/Property accountant and reports to the VP of Finance and CFO
**ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Prepare timely and complete financial statements and other reports to summarize and interpret current and projected financial results
- Establishing and maintaining processes/systems and overall management of: A/P, A/R, Payroll entries, and all other journal entries related to maintaining the general ledger
- Responsible for the oversight of tenant billings including CAM, Real estate tax reconciliations, water billing, and miscellaneous billings
- Analyze/abstract tenant leases and enter lease into Yardi accounting system
- Oversee the administration, review and reconciliation of cash, liabilities, Construction in process accounts, and inter-company accounts
- Work with executive leadership to ensure operational success through cost analysis support, operations support and compliance with all contractual requirements
- Oversee and lead annual budgeting and planning process in conjunction with the VP of Finance
- Review and monitor Company insurance policies as well as maintaining the proper general ledger reporting
- Liaison with external auditors and provide needed information for the annual audit including all reports and workpapers
- Prepare necessary reports for annual insurance audits including workers compensation and general liability
**REQUIRED SKILLS & ATTRIBUTES | SUCCESS FACTORS**
- Proven experience and ability to multi-task and support multiple team members as the department head
- Experience in Yardi, Outlook, Word and Excel
- Highly analytical and detail oriented

- Strong communication skills
**MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS**
- Prior experience in Real Estate Development, preferably with retail tenants
- Ability to provide an advanced level of general support to operations team and/or executive group
- Skilled in the use of office equipment and computer software including Yardi, Microsoft Work, Excel and Outlook
- Must have outstanding written and verbal communication skills
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or related discipline required
- Demonstrated leadership ability to effectively manage and develop a team
**SAFETY PROCEDURES AND EQUIPMENT**
Real Estate Controller will use the required personal protective equipment in all identified areas when on the construction site. Non-slip soled shoes, hard hat, safety vest, eye protection, etc. must be worn.

**WORKING ENVIRONMENT**
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job; however, when on the construction site, the employee may be exposed to moving mechanical parts, wet and/or humid conditions, extreme cold, and extreme heat. The noise level is usually loud.
