**Summary**:
Internal Title: Associate Director #LI-Hybrid Location: Cambridge, MA About the role: This division is the innovation engine of Novartis, focusing on powerful new technologies that have the potential to help produce therapeutic breakthroughs for patients Based on our understanding of cancer at the molecular, cellular and organismal levels, Translational Clinical Oncology (TCO) designs and drives innovative early development clinical trials to develop the next generation of highly effective therapeutics that transform the lives of patients with cancer.

**About the Role**:
**Key responsibilities**:

- Provide program management leadership and support at leader level to complex TCO programs, sometimes incorporating external partners.
- In close partnership with the Clinical Project Leaders (CPLs) of the programs, drive the process of developing and implementing the integrated strategic and operational plans for global drug development programs.
- Through leadership of the global early program team (EPT), in partnership with project team leaders and functional leaders, define project strategies, develop and maintain integrated project plans, and manage diverse teams across sites to meet project timelines and goals
- Lead project teams with respect to timing, scenario/options development, risk management, opportunities/challenges, and requirements of collaborating with Decision Boards.
- Ensure realistic resource forecasts for timelines and budget with timely communication of forecast variations and supporting rationale
- Use drug development expertise to integrate knowledge and planning of all line functions for the project
- Provide scientific experience, clinical knowledge, and indication expertise to build valuable opportunities to improve the value of existing projects and programs
- Ensure effective, proactive, and open communication within and outside the project teams in order to meet stakeholder requirements and achieve visibility and clarity of program goals, progress and issues
- Build and maintain effective and impactful teams passionate about effective cross functional communication, decision-making and resolving issues
- Strengthen the collaboration with development and commercial colleagues to champion timely transition of programs
- Act as liaison with alliance partners and thought leaders external to the company
- Participate in non-program related activities, initiatives and interfaces

The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between $151,200 and $226,800 / year; however, while salary ranges are effective from 1/1/24 through 12/31/24, fluctuations in the job market may necessitate adjustments to pay ranges during this period. Further, final pay determinations will depend on various factors, including, but not limited to geographical location, experience level, knowledge, skills and abilities. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a sign-on bonus, restricted stock units, and discretionary awards in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment. If hired, employee will be in an “at-will position” and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.

**Essential Requirements**:

- Masters or Doctorate in life sciences or MBA with Bachelor Degree in life science
- 5+ years pharma or biotech industry experience
- 5+ years of equivalent cross-functional leadership experience and experience leading multiple teams simultaneously
- Previous track record of success in working with global multidisciplinary drug discovery and development teams
- Excellent project / program management skills

**Desirable Requirements**:

- Expert knowledge in oncology research or drug development (including early and late-stage development) preferred but not required
