**Position Summary and Overview**

The Churchill School & Center, a K-12 school for students with language-based learning disabilities, is seeking a 6th Grade Head Math Teacher for hire.

**Essential Duties and Responsibilities**
- Demonstrate commitment to Churchill’s mission and core values
- Embrace and model Churchill’s commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion
- Work collaboratively with cooperating team members, including but not limited to: related service providers, specialists, assistant teachers, etc. to plan and implement units of study, lessons, assignments, projects & activities
- Plan units of study and implement thoughtful lessons
- Evaluate and modify curriculum
- Teach using multisensory methodology
- Support students by
- Implementing small group instruction when needed
- Scaffolding in-class assignments, tasks and projects
- Developing critical thinking, problem solving skills and tools to become self advocates and productive learners
- Utilizing multimodal methods of teaching
- Assess student work and participation both formally and informally
- Maintain class websites with course descriptions, pictures, etc.
- Initiate and maintain communication with student families
- Supervise students during lunch and recess periods
- Seek improved methods of teaching through professional development opportunities
- Other duties as assigned

**Qualifications**
- BA or BS Degree (Degree in Elementary Education, Special Education, or Math Education)
- MA or MS Degree (Degree in Elementary Education, Special Education, Math Education or related field preferred)
- NYS Teacher Certification
- Two - Three or more years of classroom experience building positive and appropriate relationships with young students
- Knowledge of, or willingness to continue higher levels of education to obtain knowledge of effective teaching strategies and methodologies for working with children with language-based learning disabilities
- Knowledge of Concrete-Pictorial-Abstract approach to instruction
- Familiarity with Smartboards, Google Drive, and technology
- Interest in professional career development in the field of special education
- Patience, flexibility, good organization skills, and a sense of humor

**Compensation**
- $62K-$85K commensurate with experience
