**About the Department**:
Stanford Libraries Preservation Department is dedicated to cultivating a culture of preservation throughout the library. We support teaching and research by connecting library staff to our staff, our services, and our resources. We preserve library materials at every stage of the collection lifecycle through a robust program of preventive and collection care, conservation services, and preservation education.

**About the Position**:
**CORE DUTIES**:
End processing - (80%)
- Sort collection materials for end processing following established workflows
- Perform basic book processing for all library locations including rush processing and label and barcode duplication requests
- Assist with collection assessment and housing projects, including preparation of off-the-shelf enclosures and making custom enclosures on computerized mat cutter
- Evaluate circulating collections for repair, housing, and special processing needs
- Perform basic non-book processing for all library locations
- Use FOLIO to track library materials
- Maintain statistics
- Create custom book jacket protectors
- Update workflow and procedure documentation
- Maintain internal inventory of non-standard collection items to be processed
- Serve as a back-up for all end processing workflows and bindery receiving

Problem solving (20%)
- Communicate with colleagues in other library units and branches to resolve end processing issues
- Perform item searches
- May provide technical support for computer hardware, software, and peripherals as unit Expert Partner liaison with Library Information Technology

**MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS**:
**Education & Experience**:

- Two-year college degree plus one or more years of experience in an academic library, or a combination of education and relevant experience.

**Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities**:

- Knowledge of preservation principles and practices
- Demonstrated interpersonal and organizational skills
- Able to communicate library policy
- Able to learn library operational skills
- Basic knowledge of computer and photocopy/scanning equipment technology

**Other Relevant Knowledge, Skills and Abilities May Include**:

- Demonstrated ability to perform detailed tasks accurately and efficiently
- Experience using an integrated library system

**Physical Requirements**:

- Ability to push a cart weighing up to 650 lbs. that requires an initial push force up to 70 lbs.
- Ability to work in an environment that is dusty and or moldy
- Ability to lift books that are up to 10 pounds
- Ability to kneel and reach
- Must be able to stand for many hours
