COURIER is presently looking to fill the position of Head of Social. This position is a senior-level management position that reports to the SVP of Growth.

The Head of Social will be responsible for the duties outlined below:

- Drive high performance and growth across all of COURIER’s state social media platforms, including Instagram,TikTok and Facebook, in order to hit our ambitious growth goals across all core social platforms
- Leverage data and insights in order to set content and publishing strategies that drive growth and engagement across core social platforms.
- Manage a team of 11 social media managers across COURIER’s state newsrooms including:

- Copper Courier: Arizona
- The Gander: Michigan
- Iowa Starting Line: Iowa
- The Keystone: Pennsylvania
- Granite Post: New Hampshire
- The Nevadan: Nevada
- Floricuas: Florida
- Cardinal & Pine: North Carolina
- Up North News: Wisconsin
- Dogwood: Virginia
- Courier DFW: Dallas Fort Worth
- Work closely with community & political editorial leadership to inform/advise on content trends and report on performance & best practices
- Maintain and drive general editorial oversight for curated and produced content by social media managers across state properties.
- Oversee the smooth flow of publishing of all digital content (community, political and growth) across all COURIER state newsroom social media channels
- Run regular meetings with teams and stakeholders
- Oversee and implement social aspect of marketing and grassroots fundraising initiatives
- Develop and oversee online community moderation workflows and best practices
- Work with growth department in managing relationships with social platforms account managers
- Self-starting attitude that understands social media trends, audience behavior, social media content formats and overall engagement and can think outside the box and ahead of the curve to test and scale creative tactics that spur organic social audience growth and engagement.
- Demonstrated experience developing, testing, and deploying editorial content strategies across platforms and new formats.
- Proactive and solutions-oriented mindset and ability to pivot quickly to capitalize on opportunities or wind down ineffective strategies or tactics.
- Detailed oriented with strong organizational skills.
- Ability to analyze and leverage data and audience insights to inform social media content development and distribution strategies, as well as new social products for specific audiences and/or audience consumption habits.
- Experience in a management role that oversees multiple social media brands across multiple social platforms.
- Ability to multi-task and juggle multiple projects at once.
