**Job Title: Summer Program Director**

**Organization**: Homework House Summer Leaders & Readers (SRL)

**Location**: Holyoke

**Duration**: Seasonal (6-8 week) M-F 8AM-4:30PM

**About Summer Leaders & Readers (SRL)**: Summer Leaders & Readers (SRL) is an intensive 5-week literacy program for rising 2nd-5th graders in Holyoke. Using a combination of intensive literacy instruction in the morning and fun engaging activities in the afternoon, SRL aims to reduce the summer slide by providing engaging and immersive learning experiences.

**Key Responsibilities**:
**Program Development**:

- Design and develop a diverse range of engaging activities.
- Create a balanced schedule that fosters both learning and fun, catering to various age groups and interests.
- Ensure that all activities align with SRL’s mission and values.

**Staff Management**:

- Recruit, hire, train, and supervise program staff members.
- Conduct regular staff meetings to communicate expectations, provide training, and address any concerns or issues.
- Foster a positive and inclusive work environment that promotes teamwork and professional growth.

**Safety and Supervision**:

- Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, policies, and procedures governing program operations, including health and safety standards, child protection protocols, and data privacy regulations.
- Develop and implement safety protocols and procedures to ensure the well-being of children, volunteers and staff.
- Maintain a high level of supervision during all program activities, including off-site field trips.
- Respond promptly and effectively to any emergencies or incidents that may arise.

**Parent Communication**:

- Serve as the primary point of contact for parents/guardians, providing regular updates and addressing any questions or concerns.
- Organize parent orientation sessions prior to the start of program to familiarize families with camp policies and procedures.
- Solicit feedback from parents and incorporate suggestions for improvement as needed.

**Administration**:

- Manage program logistics, including registration, attendance tracking, and budget oversight.
- Collaborate with external vendors to secure necessary resources and support.
- Prepare reports and evaluations to assess the success of the program and identify areas for growth or improvement.

**Qualifications**:

- Bachelor's degree in education, recreation, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
- Previous experience working in a supervisory role at a summer camp or similar youth program.
- Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate staff.
- Knowledge of child development principles and best practices in youth programming.
- Current certification in first aid and CPR (or willingness to obtain certification).
- Ability to pass a background check

- Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.

**Job Types**: Seasonal, Full-time, Temporary

Pay: $23.00 - $25.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
