This position supports the work of the Two Rivers YMCA, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. This position is responsible for program operations at the Bass Street YMCA-Sylvan Boathouse.

**ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS**:

- Ensures programs and services meet community needs to include supervising existing program activities, establishing new program activities, and expanding the program within the community as needed. Assists in the marketing and distribution of program information.
- Serves as the Head Rowing Coach and is responsible for teaching proper rowing technique, leading rowing practices, workout schedule and conditioning, race entries, parent meetings and volunteers.
- Drives truck with trailer of boats and equipment to regattas during spring, summer, and fall rowing seasons.
- Recruits and hires diverse staff and volunteer teams across multiple dimensions of diversity. Onboards and develops them for success.
- Models relationship-building skills in all interactions. Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with community organizations. Maintains regular, clear, and concise communication within area of responsibility.
- Manages the program, including developing and monitoring the program budget to meet fiscal objectives; compiling program statistics to monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of and participation in program; securing and scheduling the needed facilities; and creating and scheduling the classes, activities or events.
- Ensures a clean safe environment for all participants and equipment inside and outside facility, program areas and during travel. This may include but is not limited to practicing water safety on and off the water, appropriate equipment and building maintenance, storage and transportation, and appropriate staffing.

**SUPERVISOR RESPONSIBILITIES**:
**QUALIFICATIONS**:

- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Two years of competitive rowing coach experience.
- Level 2 US Rowing Coach certification preferred or ability to attain within 90 days of hire.
- One year of experience loading and transporting rowing shells, driving motorized boats or safety launches during practice. Must have an acceptable driving record that is approved to drive for the YMCA.
- Basic janitorial and facility maintenance knowledge.
- Extensive knowledge of rowing skills, techniques, safety and teaching.
- Within 3 months of hire, completion of CPR, First Aid, AED for infant, child and adult, Bloodborne Pathogens, Illinois Harassment training and other training as assigned.
- Valid Driver’s License and Car Insurance.
- Previous budget responsibility of at least $50k of revenue preferred.

- The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, frequently up to 100 pounds and occasionally over 100 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision and the ability to adjust.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
- Sufficient strength, agility and mobility to perform essential functions of position and to supervise program activities.
- Position requires both indoor and outdoor activities, in various weather conditions.
- Remain alert with no lapses of consciousness.

**COMPENSATION INFORMATION**:

- Salary Range: $50,000-$60,000
