**_ Agency Description_**

The First Judicial District of Pennsylvania (“FJD”) is the Philadelphia County Court System and is composed of two courts: the Court of Common Pleas and the Municipal Court. The mission of the FJD is to adjudicate cases and provide services to the community within our jurisdiction while ensuring fair, timely, and accessible justice to the people of Philadelphia. The FJD is part of the Unified Judicial System reporting in to the Pennsylvania Supreme Court of Pennsylvania.

**Job Description** Position** **Summary**:
This is beginning level professional work of a training nature. Work entails extensive client contact to obtain information and financial data to establish paternity, child support, modification of support orders and enforcement of support obligations. Close supervision is received during the training period to ensure that decisions and work activities are in conformance with established policies and appropriate statutes.

**Essential Functions**:
**_ The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all inclusive. Other duties may be required and/or assigned._**
- The Conference Officer Trainee will hold conferences in an effort to establish paternity, support obligations, modifications of support orders, and enforcement of orders where defendants are delinquent or not in compliance with their support orders.
- Cases assigned to conference officer trainees may be local or interstate/intrastate.
- Additional duties may include the referral of cases to a Support Hearing Officer and/or court listing.
- Preparing contempt petitions.
- Using computer interfaces for location of absent parents, and monitoring cases for data reliability and case closure.

**MARGINAL FUNCTIONS**:

- Performs related work as required.

**Competencies, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities**:

- Some experience in Domestic Relations functions preferred.
- Some knowledge of the techniques of interviewing involving resolutions of paternity situations and/or required case processing with emphasis on behavioral aspects of affected parties in accordance with work assignment.
- Skill in basic arithmetic calculations with emphasis on converting fractions and decimals.
- Ability to review pay records, tax returns, and various expense statements and to translate weekly and monthly income and expenses into workable schedules.
- Ability to effectively communicate the English language, both orally and in writing.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients, public agencies, fellow workers, and the general public.

**Qualifications**
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
- Ability to perform the essential functions of a position in this class.
- Successful completion of a criminal background investigation.
- Covid-19 Vaccination is recommended.

Salary Range: $54,187 - $59,613
